I think he can still be knighted. Wasn't Bob Geldof knighted? He's Irish too. And Bono isn't pro-IRA or anti-British, so there's nothing overtly objectionable about him receiving a knighthood.

And I think chances are very good he'll at least be nominated for the Nobel Peace prize one day.
