angel of harlem is about billie holliday, not a city. and if you want to be technical, harlem isn't actually a city... it's a section of manhattan.

on a side note, i played the song on my iPod while walking up towards times square the other night... twas a goosebump enducing moment

The Unforgettable Fire LP was written because of the exhibition U2 saw at the Chicago Peace Museum.... (while touring America during the "War" era). The exhibit was a collection of paintings
and drawings... by the survivors... of the bombings in Nogasoki
and Hirosheema. The Peace Museum also had a collection of work dedicated to Martin Luther King Jr. It was with these images
in mind..... that U2 went home to Dublin to make their next record
