I have made a list of all the cover songs that U2 have officially released on singles:

Everlasting Love(AIWIY single)
Dancing Barefoot(AOH single)
Unchained Melody(AIWIY single)
Night And Day(One single)
Satellite Of Love(One single)
Fortunate Son(WGRYWH single)
Paint It Black(WGRYWH single)
Can't Help Falling In Love(WGRYWH single)
I've Got You Under My Skin(Stay single)
Pop Muzik(LNOE single)
Don't Take Your Guns To Town(Elevation single)
Neon Lights(Vertigo single)

Firstly, if I've missed any, do tell(I don't think I have though).

Secondly, rank them from best to worst...I'm interested to see what everybody's favorite covers are.

1.Dancing Barefoot
2.Night And Day
3.Can't Help Falling Love
4.Unchained Melody
5.Everlasting Love
6.Neon Lights
7.Satellite Of Love
8.Pop Muzik
9.I've Got You Under My Skin
10.Paint It Black
11.Fortunate Son
12.Don't Take Your Guns To Town

I thought this was a thread about album covers. Anyway, Night and Day really is awesome. I would put Got U Under My Skin higher up. Actually, I haven't even heard most of these songs.

PS: Is the steel string mix the only version of Night and Day?

No, there's the original, normal mix on Red, Hot, and Blue, a Cole Porter tribute album, a Twilight Mix, and maybe some others (check U2wanderer.org).

The original is best.

A live cover of The Ramones' I Remember You is on ... some ATYCLB single, I forget which.

Dancing Barefoot is sensational - U2 took that song and totally owned it. I don't even think of it as a cover. I would say it's U2's best cover ever if it weren't for the mindblowing live covers of All Along The Watchtower on the Lovetown Tour. They piss all over the performance on Rattle And Hum.

This doesn't completely qualify as it wasn't released on a single, but Beat on the Brat was a cover as well...

Cool idea. Another idea could involve:

I think the best is by far their version of "Unchained Melody" (full band, not just Bono at ZooTV).

It's 10,000 times better than the original. If it wasn't a cover, I would say it's one of their best songs.

Dancing Barefoot is awesome...I don't think of it as a cover either. A friend & I saw Jewel (I know, I know) and she played that, and did it similar to the U2 version...and we were like "Wow, a U2 song!!!" hehe
