Bono: *turns volume on speakers up to max volume*

Edge: What are you doing?

Bono: Oh...nothing. *calls a friend up, and tells him to get ready to hear some new U2*

Edge: What was that all about?

Bono: Oh...nothing. *presses play button*

Oops...

Edge: WTF was that for???

Bono: Oh. No. The fans. Will. Now. Hear the. New. Music.

Edge: Oh well, no big loss. When interference gets it, being as cynical as they are, they probably won't even think it's us playing anyway, or maybe something from the Zooropa sessions. That's what they keep comparing our album to. :huh: :lol:

this one, last.fm, and another one I just opened so I don't seem as U2-obsessed

:shifty:

daily show is on in ten minutes though :drool:

OK, so as far as live unreleased/pre-release material goes:

Father Is An Elephant: November 1980 on the Boy Tour
I Fall Down and Fire: Early versions on the Boy Tour in April/May/June 1981
Womanfish and Trip Through Your Wires: On Irish TV in January 1986
When Love Comes To Town: debuted in October 1987, over a year prior to release.
Slow Dancing: sung by Bono on Aussie radio in October 1989, debuted live in December 1989, and played a few times on ZooTV before its first release in November 1993.
She's A Mystery To Me: as per previous posts.
We Love You: 6 August 2001, Antwerp in tribute to Edge.

That list is excluding all the pre-Boy stuff and anything played live before the release of its album but at promotional events and such (like the War songs at the early War Tour shows or COBL and ABOY at the BBC TOTP). And some of SYCMIOYO was sung by Bono at his father's funeral in 2001.

at 11:00 I think i'm going to transfer these to my ipod and contemplate them while i pretend to sleep

The ones of these that have been mentioned by multiple people independently are The Beatles, Arcade Fire, Joy Division, and possibly Christian soft rock. I believe the others have been mentioned once only.

I think Hendrix (for Edge) too more than once (including me).

All my life is gettin extremely addictive

And Edge's solo , I won't just get sick of hear it

Don't know if is coz I've been playin some Led Zeppelin tunes ..... but Edge's first solo in 404 , it's starting to sound like Jimmy Paige

It's a good thing these songs aren't of very good quality, or else I'd be just like you...except worse. :shifty:

:up: It has a pre-1975 feel to me, so we are on the same track.

THE VERVE!!! Listen to Thank You. When people are saying Coldplay I think they really mean The Verve except for the supposed Clocks-like clip. I can't be the only one who hears Richard Ashcroft coming through Bono.

400 is brilliant! It has a sense of mystery about it and I'm surprised more people aren't talking about it. Potential classic there I think.. Also, I really like the last track as well, lots of new things for U2 there, and some welcome energy. I haven't made my mind up on the others yet, although All My Life has gotten better for me.

The chorus is fantastic , the melody is brilliant and it does sound fresh for U2 , and the guitar playing of u2 at 2:00 on .... great

well judging by 409, The Arcade Fire at least! and a couple of the songs are Beatles-y.

Let us be crazy together. :drool: :drool: :drool:

I agree with The Arcade Fire influence. The clips seem to be a mix of that band's great free flow style, Beatles, and some incredible blues-influenced guitar from Edge; the 404 solo has a great Keith Richards vibe about it...almost sounds like a small hit of his work on Gimme Shelter.

These beach clip things are so much fun. Anticipation. :drool:

Some people think we'll get a single or album soon. Some people think this is little more than a jam session with quite a bit of development to go.

People have heard a myriad of artists in the mix, everything from Beatles to Bon Jovi, Arcade Fire, Joy Division, Rolling Stones, Kelly Clarkson, The Verve, Led Zeppelin, Styx, The Cure, and the dreaded Coldplay.

We made Chris Martin cry.

Yesterday, around 4-5 PM est, a 9-minute clip of U2 sessions was posted.

Today, around 3:30 PM est an 18-minute clip of U2 sessions was posted was completed the other clip.

Five songs were in those sessions:

400
402
403
404
409...

...Based on their file names in the original downloadable zip file.

In between there, lots of C-oldplay (C***play is a swear now :wink: ) and French-people bashing went on, because they were hoarding the clips at U2achtung.

And there you go. :faint:

No , no way on that :wink:

I and ntalwar , already marked this territory , and it's a Paige Vibe

Specially from 2:10 , I can see the pic , Jimmy playin that on his classic Songs Remain the Same "uniform" and dancing , like most of his solos

Er, you mean 409, not 405!

And they have got some fan working titles:

400 = Can't You See
402 = I Believe
403 = Thank You
404 = All My Life
409 = 409

The latter three are pretty universally accepted. The first two are somewhat struggling to gain currency.
