Ever had a weird U2 Concert Dream?

I don't think this is the first time its happened, but this morning I had one of those pre-wake up weird dreams. This time I was at a U2 concert in Ottawa.

Here's what I remember:

* Its a massive outdoor show, but it is not a regular tour stop. Perhaps it is a tv special.

* Crowd in front is chanting "Play New Stuff...Play New Stuff...Play New Stuff"

* Edge says into a mic "We'll play whatever we f*ing feel like playing"

* Band launches into an amazing rendition Stuck in a Moment to open - a post-punk, dirty electric version with all four members singing chorus and...somehow the rendition worked.

* Beautiful Day
* I Will Follow
* Vertigo
* Elevation
* Electric Co.
* Mofo - fans freak out, but half way through the song, the whole crowd is gone because of a security threat...band keeps playing and for some reason, I'm watching from the stage.
* I chat it up with the band while we wait for the crowd to return, and for some reason, Bono needs a new shirt...so I give him my Sam Roberts Band t-shirt and he wears it the rest of the show.
* Crowd returns
* Bono gets behind piano and starts playing Mercy...band join in. Very rough as bono plays numerous off notes...guess he should have had a few more lessons. But awesome to hear Mercy played at all.
* Large African-American choir comes on stage. U2 picks up horn instruments and provides the music for some new gospel song. Choir sucks. U2 on horns aren't any better. Boy in middle of choir starts a disruption and choir is cut off half way through song.
* Edge gets on synth and begins an intro that sounds very much like Coldplay's "Clocks"...wait a sec, it is "Clocks". A Coldplay cover? Half way through song, they totally lose sound.
* Concert comes to an abrupt end and I wake up!

Weird but very cool at the same time.

Anyone else have a bizarre U2 concert dream?
 
Yeah, I left during the intermission before the encore of this one U2 show. I was locked out and wasn't allowed back in. During the encore, U2 went down the street, with Bono dressed like MacPhisto while singing Big Girls Are Best.

And I'm not lying either.
 
i've had dreams about going to zoo tv concerts and sometimes i've had dreams that i am onstage but i don't think i am myself, but i am one of the members and it's from their perspective.
 
In my dreams, I have been to a PopMart show, an Elevation show, and a Vertigo show. :drool:

PopMart was huge and the outdoor venue was spectacular. At the Elevation show, Bono was wandering through the audience, like he did at the MTV Europe awards that year. It was awesome. The Vertigo show was surprisingly small and intimite.

...In real life, I haven't been to any shows. :(

Why do you think it was made up? Too bizarre?

Dreams usually aren't the sort of things that make a whole lot of sense or are very logical.

Besides, if I were to make up a concert dream, I'd have said I was playing guitar in Edge's spot and we played a 50-song set list.
 
Yeah, I've had such dreams.

Like, when I dreamed that I was at a concert with some wonderful friends. And we somehow surprised the band, so Bono pulled us onstage. And we got to stand there, together, in front of 20,000 people. But then I realise it wasn't a dream, but that it actually happened!

I had a dream in late 2003/early 2004, when I was still pissed off that HTDAAB would be delayed until Nov. 2004. But the dream I had was envisioning what the 2005 tour would be like. The album was called "Dark", and the tour was also called "Dark." U2 made a very dark and powerful album in 2004. So the first half of the concert was songs from the Dark album, and other dark songs like "End of the world" and "Exit" and such. Just when the darkness and intensity became too much to bear, the dark and dreary stage suddenly began to light up, the backdrop turned red, and they started playing Streets. From then on, the concert was a joyous occasion. Kind of like the turning of night into day. This was a great dream, and a great concert in my dream. Probably better and more exciting than the Vertigo tour actually turned out to be. If I were in a band, I'd do a tour like the one in my dream.
 
i had 2 consecutive u2 related dreams last week. well two nights i should say..

1st was me in a bar /lounge /club type place and bono was in the back on a sofa. i remember him having red brown hair and sharp blue eyes looking at me like i was the most interesting thing he'd seen. i proceeded to tell him that all we want from him is interesting music. he said something back to me but i cant recall if it was counteractive or reassuring. ill edit later if it comes back to me.

the next night i was at a house party and there was a small stage in the back room leading to the backyard. and u2 were playing. and the party loved it. bono was at the far right with me standing right underneath him and edge was at the far left. the rythym section was there but i wasnt interested in them for some reason. then after the gig bono ran around outside.
 
I got Bono drunk and we talked about random shit. Never got anywhere. He said "extraordinary" about 76 times.
 
All dreams are weird but mine take the cake.

My first one involved the current U2 playing at a club somewhere. I was with them backstage and Edge told everyone that he completely forgot how to play guitar. He was begging Adam and Bono to help him out but they couldn't remember either.
Then they called U2 out and Edge started to just strum the guitar and it sounded awful. Bono started to sing gibberish since he couldn't remember any lyrics and the small crowd started to boo him and threw beer bottles at them.
I think I was their manager because I ran up to the microphopne and apologized for their performance. They were escorted off stage.

The second one is more complicated. They had a center stage in an arena and I had GA tickets. It was after the concert and you needed a ticket to get out of the venue too. I was with my mom and we didn't have any tickets to get out. So the woman on the loudspeaker tells us that Bono is upstairs giving these tickets away. We go upstairs and he's at this table signing stuff and giving away the tickets. I get up to him and I'm fumbling with my camera to take pictures of the lake behind him. He asks to see my photos and I show them to him. He's amazed because he spots this creature swimming in the lake and begs me to show it to Edge who is at another table a few feet away.
I walk to Edge's table and fumble again to find the same photo but it doesn't matter because it turns out that Edge is too busy judging this "booty dance music" competition. Then someone brings a pizza by and he starts shoveling it in his mouth before saying, "I'm incapable of keeping this out of my mouth!" :eyebrow:

I'm sure I've had more but I can't recall them right now.
 
Um I dreamed about a month ago that I'd flown to Miami for a special U2 performance that was the halftime show for a pro football game. (yes, in June) I forgot my tickets so I couldn't get in, had to just stand outside the stadium trying to listen. There were a lot of Interferencers there.

I had it one time, can't remember much of it, only that they played all my favorite songs and it was a concert a weird place. I guess the North pole or something :wink:

I've had several dreams where I'm all excited about going to a U2 show, then when I get there, it's a small bar/club type place, and there's hardly anyone there.

Which would be great, but everything is always really blurry, like I forgot to put my contacts in.
 
I had a dream my band was Playing at Slane and U2 were supporting us!! It was weird cause then I was talking to the band backstage and I told them how much i loved them when i was a teenager (in the dream I must have been about 25 or so, I'm still only 16!) and he invited me to play onstage with them. The Slane stage was the same as is on the Slane DVD, the Elevation heart ramp etc. I remember jumping round it playing New Years Day and Until the End of the World and Edge and I "battling" him with guitar and me with bass..."They were supporting us??" is all i could think :wink:
 
I've had so many, I wouldn't know which was the best to tell you about. But, I can tell you this......They were all great and usually prior to an up and coming concert I was going to. Many were actually very much like the concert once I went. So, yes, there are others of us who has some real neat U2 dreams. In my dreams I always have a front row seat!
 
I am the queen of bizarre dreams... like the one where Antonio Banderas was a talking block of cheese...

However, my U2 dreams tend to be a little more sane. A few strange events have occured though:

I was at a big outdoor concert. The setup looked about like ZooTV, just minus all of the bells and whistles (like the TV screens and the Trabants). At first it was like I was watching it on TV though, because the angle kept changing. It was weird because Larry's drumkit was on Edge's side (but facing Adam's side, not facing front), Edge was on Adam's side, Adam was by Larry, and Bono was everywhere of course. There was a raised platform in the middle, with a keyboard on it. Adam went up there and started playing Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana on it (he was playing the keyboard, but it sounded like a guitar).
Then I was actually down in the crowd, very close to the stage. Bono was about to pull a girl up, and to choose which, he had a hat with names in it. I got upset because I knew I hadn't put my name in the hat, but when he drew one out, it was mine. And then I woke up.

In this one, some friends and I were at an indoor show, and we had crap seats. The band hadn't come out yet, but Bono was onstage doing a cover of Closer by Nine Inch Nails with the opening band. Then they all left, except for Bono and two girls who began singing Killing Me Softly, and Bono was playing piano to accompany them (and I was generally like WTF Bono on piano?!). They they all left, and it was time for the concert... but instead they started showing a sci-fi movie on the screen behind the stage.

This one was another indoor show, but the seats were better. The band came out and started playing Zoo Station, but weren't getting it right, and the crowd didn't seem excited at all (I didn't feel that excited either). Then the band gave up on Zoo Station and tried to play Stuck in a Moment, but they messed up that too, then they just took a break.
I went outside then, and then a bit later, some guy came out and said "They're playing MOFO!" I was like "OMG! I'm missing it!" and ran back in, but I only caught the end of it (what I saw was nice though, lots of multicoloured lights shining everywhere). Then Bono started singing Dammit Janet from the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and the crowd finally seemed excited.

In the most recent one, I was at another indoor show, but there was hardly anyone there, in fact, I think it was actually a rehearsal. There were less than 100 people in the crowd, and they were all gathered around the ellipse, which was not an ellipse, but was in fact, a GIANT YELLOW LEMON shaped B-ramp. Also, the music playing was very Pop like, and there were awesome blue lights and generally discoish decorations. I hope this dream was prophetic.
Anyway, Bono was inside the lemon by himself, and someone up on the stage started listing a few people who could go into the lemon. I was one of six people listed. I was rather excited, and as I walked in and approached Bono, I forced myself to look calm, and as a result, other people were saying I must not actually be a fan. Then Bono and us six chosen people went into this other room, to do a dance contest, with Bono as a judge.
 
hahahah omg gmplace your dream is so funny. that the whole concert stopped because they chose to do a coldplay cover HAHAHAh =)

i once had a dream that I walked in while U2 was rehearsing before a show, and they were pretty nice and stuff, and Larry and I made up a secret handshake, and I wouldn't leave until we got it right three times in a row (it was a rather complicated, but fun handshake, haha). that was great =)
 
I've had so many strange U2 concert dreams. Here's just a few of them.

1. Going to a U2 show in a small auditorium with my parents (who in real life don't know our Bono from the late Sonny Bono). The boys did SNL-type skits on stage between songs and Bono led everyone in a congo line around the auditorium. Awesome!

2. Going to see U2 by myself at this little club or small auditorium and getting in the front row and getting pulled up on stage by Bono only to have him push me back into the crowd. :|

3. Going to a U2 show near where I live (which would never happen in real life because I live in a rinky dink little town) and having it get off to a really, really late start. I have to leave because I have an assignment for work, and by the time I get back the concert is over. :(

(Edited to add the really strange thing is I had all these dreams before I finally went to my first U2 show last year. Now I never dream about going to shows.)

Over the past 20 years, I've had a recurring dream, or rather, a teeth-grinding nightmare where I can't get into the show and I'm stuck outside the venue watching other people walk right in. I've also had the dream where I do actually get in the venue and I'm one of only a handful of people, but I'm still very, very far away from the stage. And then there's the dream where somehow, I had no idea there was a show that night and I freak out because I'm missing it.

Yeah, all of my U2 dreams have to do with pent up frustration apparently. :huh:
 
I had one where the guys were playing a show in my backyard and all of my celebrity + real-life crushes.

It wasn't as much a U2 dream, but they were in it :up:

(the lesson is, always watch E! News before you sleep, and listen to your U2 playlist on your iPod while you sleep)
 
Dam. And I thought I was the only one! I have had a few U2 dreams. The first couple I was watching them play under a bridge, like they were homeless or something. And I just sat down to watch them, no one else around, just jamming and chatting. Then the next 2-3 or so we were at my local pub just chatting. Then the last couple I was watching them play, in the pit/oval/bomb-shelter, down the front and I would shout out “Coming to the Shakespeare after the show?” And Bono would reply with a thumbs up and a “Hey Kev, sure we’ll be there”

Weird!

Sadly, my only U2-related dream centred around Edge's floating houseboat, where he advised me of the benefits of a high protein diet. What is it with Edge dreams and food?

Last night, I dreamt that I was in a high-speed snowmobile chase with David Hasselhoff. He was out of control, and not wearing a helmet...I was a police officer or a park ranger of some sort. :(

you all have great U2 dreams. most of them made me laugh. here's one of mine:

U2 are playing the Murat, which is a small auditorium-like venue. They don't have the Vertigo light curtains or anything; they're just up on the stage with their instruments. They open with Vertigo but stop halfway through and leave. Everyone else leaves too, assuming the concert is over (Vertigo x 1/2 wooo!!), but I decide to stay in my seat. Bono comes back a bit later and comes to talk to me. I ask "Where'd the rest of the band go?" and he replies "Oh, they went to see Green Day." aaaand that's all I remember

yeah, I've had plenty of weird U2 dreams, many of them dealing with time travel, oddly enough. Like this one where if I folded this dollar bill in half, when I woke up I'd be back in the Elevation era, and I had to go get tickets, but somehow I always lost the tickets or missed the train to get the tickets or something :huh: and eventually I couldn't fold the dollar bill in half anymore so I couldn't keep going back in time to try to get the tickets.

and this other one I had involved me going back in time to help them record Pop (of course!)... I somehow met up with U2 in 1996 or 1997 or whatever and sang the lyrics to Discotheque and they were all "HOW DID YOU KNOW THAT?!" I don't remember much else of the dream though :(
