You are given a 1/2 hour time slot on the the radio. The signal is going out to the entire world and you have a choice of 5 U2 songs to play. What songs would they be to try and convince the world that they are the best. They can be album versions, live songs, anything, but you want them to appeal to as many people as possible.

What are your choices?

I'll post mine latter.

Bad/40/Streets (Live From Boston Elevation) - This counts as one ;)
One (Live from Modena)
Mysterious Ways (Live From Houston ZooTV)
Sunday Bloody Sunday (Live from Boston Elevation)
Pride (Live from Sydney ZooTV)

OK...so it would go over a half hour, but I think that after they heard the first couple of songs, the radio execs would give me a chance to finish. ;)

Pride
Beautiful Day
With or Without You(live version.....shine like stars)
Numb(in the as many people as possible category!)
One

I could keep playing for days though!!!!

New Years Day--Live Dublin Dec '89
Pride-studio
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For-studio
One-Sydney-Zoo TV or maybe just studio version. can't decide.
Sunday Bloody Sunday/Bad--Live Aid. I count that as one:|

- Pride (album version)
- Please (live from Rotterdam, since most of the world did like pop)
- Mysterious Ways (from the pop tour as well)
- Until The End of The World (from the elevation tour)
- Where The Streets Have No Name (played from anywhere, for everyone)

Well, does half an hour include the encore? Because after that, I think there would be a request for one.

I think that's a good set list, but its hard to balance slow and fast songs in such a small amount of air time. The best way to convince people is hit them right between the eyes with U2 live and in full flight... then it wouldn't really matter what songs were played. The atmosphere would hopefully be enough to sway even the harshest of critics.

P.S.

the best way to approach this topic is to ask yourself, what songs made you a U2 fan... which ones took a while for you to really enjoy (you should probably leave those ones out). That's how I made my list.

Just 5 songs... difficult.

* Out of control (first single, great song, even better if it is a live version)
* Sunday Bloody Sunday (Rattle and Hum version, really powerful)
* Where the Streets Have No Name (live)
* One (what a song)
* Please (single version)
