How many times has this been brought up, eh?

My friend is finally getting turned on to U2 thanks to yours truly (it only took me 6 years) and she wants me to make her a cd of imo their best songs...

My list is quite extensive, and I was wondering what yours would look like,

Anyway, here's mine

1) I will Follow
2) Stories for Boys (kinda random, that's just one of my favorites)
3)Gloria
Pretty much all of War
4)Sunday Bloody Sunday
5)New Years Day
6)Seconds (Edge lovin')
7)Two Hearts Beat as One
8)"40"

18)Hawkmoon 269 (Has to be there, the song that got her hooked)
19)Heartland

21)One
22)Until the End of the World
23)So Cruel
24)The Fly
25)Mysterious Ways
26)UltraViolet
27)Love is Blindness

34)Beautiful Day (Again not a favorite, but it's like ISHFWILF)
35)Stuck in a Moment
36)Walk On
37)Vertigo
38)Love and Peace...or Else
39)City of Blinding Lights
40)Yahweh

Isn't 40 the perfect number for U2? Lol...ok...it's a little long, but U2's worth it....Anway what would you add or take otu, in case I decided to take some out?

Take out Two Hearts, replace with Bullet.

Take out COBL, replace with Gone.

Take out Yahweh, replace with Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses.

*paces room* Now what to do.....40 was such a good number....

I don't know about Bullet...I don't personally like that song...but I know others do.

I wanted to put Gone on there...but sometimes that songs a little, I don't know...maybe I overplayed it for myself and that's why I cna't listen to it any more...I lve the lyrics thogh....

Was afraid I forgot numb there for second.

right off the bat I would substitute "If God Would Send His Angels" for "If You Wear That Velvet Dress." Other than that, I kept thinking "Oh you need Unforgettable Fire" and "Oh you need Heartland" etc. etc. only to find out you had included them.

I had to make one for my dad but I just in most of their singles past "Pride". He's not big on punk rock so I left out Boy. :(
He's a big Sinatra fan so I threw in "Two Shots of Happy..."

We were listening to it in his car yesterday and it started with "With or Without You" and he said he had never heard of that song before.

You gotta have Desire in there somewhere

Replace So Cruel w/ Zoo Station

Replace Stuck In A Moment with Elevation

Replace Yahweh with Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own

I came up with a really good list a while ago, it goes in order of album, then has non-album tracks, and it isn't necessarily their greatest hits, but it is for a lot of it. Anyways...

Another Time, Another Place
Gloria
I Threw a Brick Through a Window
October
Sunday Bloody Sunday
New Year's Day
Like A Song...
Two Hearts Beat As One

My list for anyone wanting to convert people to U2 is as follows...

Where The Streets Have No Name
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
With Or Without You
Bullet The Blue Sky
Running To Stand Still
Red Hill Mining Town
In God's Country
Trip Through Your Wires
One Tree Hill
Exit
Mothers of the Disappeared

I think I've decided to break it down to 15-18 songs, depending on how many fit on one cd...so if you want to make a list of their top 15-18 that would be nice...I'm working on picking one from each cd, and then a few extras.

I recently did this for a friend of mine; and I tried to capture the "essence" of where U2 were with each album; the songs that really defined the period. Not just the most successful singles, but also the classics, those that were most loved by the fans. And then to fit it on one disk! Ha! My attempt:

1. Where The Streets Have No Name (Radio Edit)
2. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
3. With Or Without You
4. The Fly
5. One
6. Until The End Of The World
7. Bad (Live - WAIA)
8. Sunday Bloody Sunday (UBRS)
9. I Will Follow
10. Vertigo (Live - U2 Communication)
11. City Of Blinding Lights
12. Beautiful Day
13. Please (Single Version)
14. Discotheque
15. Angel Of Harlem
16. Lemon (Single Edit)
17. Stay
18. 40

New and imporved list (well not imporved, but the list that is one song off of each album, and then a few extras)

Boy: I will Follow
October: Gloria
War: Sunday Bloody Sunday
The Unforgetable Fire: Pride
The Joshua Tree: Where the Streets Have No Name
Rattle and Hum: Hawkmoon 269 (Already stated, it's the song that got her hooked on U2)
Achtung Baby: One
Zooropa: Stay
Pop: Starring at the Sun
All That You Can't Leave Behind: Beautiful Day
How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb: City of Blinding Lights

Hoping six more songs will fit on here, otherwise, don't know what to do:

The Unforgetable Fire
With Or Without You
Heartland
Mysterious Ways
Fast Cars
And of course to finish off anything dealing with U2
"40"
