1987: "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" was nominated for Song and Record of the Year. It lost to Paul Simon's 'Graceland' and something else. I think it was Steve Winwood's "Higher Love".

1992: "Achtung Baby" was nominated for Album of the Year, but lost to Eric Clapton's 'Unplugged'.

1998: I'm not completely sure about this, but I think "Pop" was nominated for best Rock Album. I know it didn't win, but I'm almost certain it was nominated.

Yes Dano, U2 was nominated for best rock album with Pop. I think they lost to Bob Dylan.

" You love this town - even if that doesn't ring true. You've been all over, and it's been all over you " - Bono

" Don't you know there ain't no Devil, that's just God when he's drunk " - Tom Waits

Correction:

I said that Steve Winwood's "Higher Love" beat-out "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" in 1987. It turns out that "Somewhere Out There" from the 'American Tail' movie won Song of the Year. That's worse than losing to Winwood, isn't it.
