Can realy have 2 favorite bands?

I just downloaded the new Radiohead album and of course I need time for it to sink in but it interests me. I have recently discovered Radiohead and have been listening to them alot since U2 has been kind on hiatus and am realy enjoying their music and ideas have been poping in and out of my head that maybe Radiohead is better than U2 in a way or at least more interesting.

I feel Radioheads strenth is U2's weakness and U2's strenth is Radioheads weekness. It seems to me that Radiohead have moved from the spotlight to make music that is more artistic and not so accsessable where as U2 have atempted to make more comercial music and given up much of their artistic license. However Radioheads music is flawed in the fact that rifts arent as mermorable and their songs tend to mix together. On the other hand U2 has stuck to more statium songs which hold them back in a way.

I cant help but compair the two. It is clear to me that Yorke though a good writer in terms of melody is not a lyricist like Bono. Yorke's lyrics lack structure and are not as poeticaly sophisticated nor as powerful as Bono's. Some may say that Yorkes lyrics simply refelct his bands abstract music style but isnt that is just an excuse for poor lyrics.

Lately I have found myself compairing Bono to Yorke more and more and I think Bono's voice is ultimately in your face, more oviously better and naturaly. Bono has a richer tone and more power to play with. However Yorke's voice is more subtle and takes time to enjoy it. His voice is more nasaly at first but the way he can hold his notes and it gets me and his vabrato is excellent.

What do u guys think am I becoming a Radiohead fan and have any of u guys left U2 for perhaps the more artistic, adult music of Radiohead.

How dare you cheat on U2, you, you, you...CHEATER!!! :madspit:

You do know that if you keep up with this blasphemy you won't be allowed to go to any U2 concerts ever again and all your U2 cds will skip, don't you? Stop this foolishness now! Erase your Radiohead download immediately and resist all urges to listen to Radiohead's evil music! You can still save yourself, but you must act quickly!

Do it. Do it now, before you end up like these poor people .

No. You're only a "real" U2 fan if you listen to U2, and ONLY U2, 24 hours a day without even THINKING about any other band. Shame on you. :|

Wouldn't that be like cheating with your lover's best friend though? Or do they just pass you around? Dump them both and find a new band.

lol well I listen to guns n roses now, not as much U2 anymore  BUT, axl roses played with them in that ZooTV concert, and Axl says that "One" is the greatest rock n roll song of all time

Well, I admit, I cheated on U2 just yesterday. I listened to two Bruce Springsteen albums. I became weak and couldn't resist. I know it's wrong and forbidden and everything, but it attracted me so strongly, I lost all of my self control. The worst part is that I actually liked and enjoyed it.

Now, the morning after, I feel really bad. Dirty. Maybe I should go and see a priest.

Will Bono ... I mean God ever forgive me for that?

Is the subject line a joke? I love about 10 to 20 different bands all of them almost equally!

You filthy whore.

Come on, people, can't you be monogamous to one band? :tsk: I bet you think listening to birds whistling is OK. It's not. It's the porn of music, and adultery, i.e. listening to other bands, is just a step away. Either listen to just U2 or don't listen to anything at all. It's as simple as that. After all, U2 invented music. Sound, even. There was no noise before 1976. The Beatles are just a fictitious creation of Henry "Satan" Rollins.

I am guilty. I won't even mention the names of the other bands now cos it's just wrong. I will shut myself in my room and listen to U2 only. Hope I don't hear the heater coming on or the tap running and stuff like that. :yikes: Only U2 should fill the air!

Why can I see a market opening up for support groups for philandering music fans?

If Bono finds out you so much as hear your own breathing, he may stop making music entirely.

I am the biggest slut around! I cheated on U2 everyday with MANY bands like yestarday it was with pink floyd and the redhot chilli-peppers! I've been around the block a few times!!! I have commited a BIG sin by whoring myself like that to other bands! I hope U2 understands though!

i bet I'm sluttier than you. but it seems no matter how many times I cheat on U2 (usually with several different bands a day), they always take me back. I'm that good :sexywink:

I've hardly been giving U2 the time of day since the tour ended!

But that will change when new material comes out.

But for now, I've fallen in love with lots of new artists.

I plan on having U2 and Ryan Adams fight a cage match to the death to win my love. Kind of unfair, 4 against 1, but Ryan will have nunchucks.

Seriously though, for the longest time, I was pretty much in what I call a U2 bubble. After I found them, I really wasn't discovering much new music. Then I found Ryan Adams (thanks, April :D), and that just kind of opened the floodgates, which is awesome. U2 is still tops in my book, but Ryan is a close second...and there are a lot of other great musicians lurking in the shadows. The more, the merrier! There's so much great music out there.

Why would you only want to have one band that you love? Expand your horizons a bit. Embrace Radiohead. And other bands. And other genres. U2 are not the be all and end all in music.

How is the new Radiohead record? Worth picking up.....this is from a casual Radiohead fan. Loved Bends, Radiohead, and KidA, but they lost me with the last couple records.

Feedback?
