Meadowlake is beautiful, I like how the song builds up and creeps right under your skin. ..Then again, I love Cold Roses to bits, it's one of those few perfect, solid albums that gets better with each listen.

She has SO MANY great lyrics, and though it's not even my favorite Tori song, for some reason I really like:

In my platforms I hit the floor
Fell face down
Didnt help my brain out
Then the baby came before I found
The magic how to keep her happy
I never was the fantasy
Of what you want wanted me to be

Dont judge me so harsh little girl
So you got a playboy mommy
But when you tell em my name
And you want to cross that bridge all on your own
Little girl theyll do you no harm
Cause they know your playboy mommy
But when you tell em my name
From here to birmingham
I got a few friends

I never was there was there when it counts
I get my way
Youre so like me
You seemed ashamed
Ashamed that I was
A good friend of american soldiers
Ill say it loud here by your grave
Those angels cant ever take my place

Somewhere where the the orchids grow
I cant find those church bells
That played when you died
Played gloria
Talkin bout hosanah

Dont judge me so harsh little girl
You got a playboy mommy, come home
But when you tell them soldiers my name
Cross that bridge all on your own
Little girl theyll do you no harm
They know your playboy mommy
But Ill be home
Ill be home to take you in my arms

I now noone will bother in reading this lyric, but rigth now, my favourite lyric is LUNA by Alessandro Safina (Spanish version):

(Only you can hear my soul, only you can hear my soul)

Luna tu

(only you can hear my soul)

Luna tu,

siempre hara girar

(only you can hear my soul)

"Down By The River"

Be on my side,
I'll be on your side,
baby
There is no reason
for you to hide
It's so hard for me
staying here all alone
When you could be
taking me for a ride.

Yeah, she could drag me
over the rainbow,
send me away
Down by the river
I shot my baby
Down by the river,
Dead, oh, shot her dead.

You take my hand,
I'll take your hand
Together we may get away
This much madness
is too much sorrow
It's impossible
to make it today.

Yeah, she could drag me
over the rainbow,
send me away
Down by the river
I shot my baby
Down by the river,
Dead, oh, shot her dead.

Be on my side,
I'll be on your side,
baby
There is no reason
for you to hide
It's so hard for me
staying here all alone
When you could be
taking me for a ride.

Yeah, she could drag me
over the rainbow,
send me away
Down by the river
I shot my baby
Down by the river,
Dead, oh, shot her dead.

The lyrics are sparse and haunting--conjures up images of fear and anger, love, passion and trust and betrayel. You can go so many directions with this song.

At the moment, I personally find a lot of strength in these lyrics by Tears for Fears. Besides, I find it a great song The song's called 'Break It Down Again':

"Break it down again

So those are my dreams
And these are my eyes
Stand tall like a man
Head a strong like a horse

When it's all mixed up
Better break it down
In the world of secrets
In the world of sound

It's in the way you're always hiding from the light
See for yourself you have been sitting on a time bomb
No revolution maybe someone somewhere else
Could show you something new about you and your inner song
And all the love and all the love in the world
Won't stop the rain from falling
Waste seeping underground
I want to break it down

Break it down again

So those are my schemes
And these are my plans
Hot tips for the boys
Fresh news from the force

When it's all mixed up
Better break it down
In the world of silence
In the world of sound

'No sleep for dreaming' say the architects of life
Big bouncing babies, bread and butter can I have a slice
They make no mention of the beauty of decay
Blue, yellow, pink umbrella save it for a rainy day
And all the love and all the love in the world
Won't stop the rain from falling
Waste seeping underground
I want to break it down

Horsin' around
Pray to power
Play to the crowd with your big hit sound
And they won't simmer won't simmer, won't simmer down
Play to the crowd
Play to the crowd
Play yeah yeah

It's in the way you're always hiding from the light
Fast off to heaven just like Moses on a motorbike
No revolution maybe someone somewhere else
Could show you something new to help
With the ups and downs
I want to break it down
Break it down again

Break it down again
No more sleepy dreaming
No more building up
It is time to dissolve
Break it down it again
No more sleepy dreaming"

This song is, as so many other songs, open to many interpretations. But what I get out of it is that people shouldn't build up their emotions over and over again, but just break them down... "Break it down again, no more sleepy dreaming. No more building up, it is time to dissolve" clearly shows this. Also, these lyrics show that you shouldn't be afraid of life and you just have to 'jump on the rollercoaster'. "It's in the way you're always hiding from the light, see for yourself you have been sitting on a time bomb. No revolution maybe someone somewhere else, could show you something new about you and your inner song" show this. But, like I said, other people may have different interpretations

I haven't read all the posts but nothing can beat this unreleased gem:

Pnemonia Celings:
Dylan/Lennon/McCartney

Words and phrases right
Cigarette ash keeps me up all night
How come your mamma types so fast?
Is daddy's flag flyin at half-mast?
Pnumonia celings, pnumonia floors
Daddy aint gonna take it no more
Elephant guns blazing in my ears
I'm sick and tired of your applesauce tears!
Thermometers don't tell time no more
Since aunt mimi pushed them off the 20th floor
So say goodbye to skyscrapers
You'll read about it in the evening paper
I picked my nose and I'm glad I did

The story behind this collaboration is here, http://expectingrain.com/dok/int/pneumonia.html

"Wish you Were Here" - Pink Floyd

So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

....so sad, so desolate. Gotta be my favourite song

i almost forgot Brian Eno's By This River
beautiful, haunting & flawless

Here we are
Stuck by this river,
You and I
Underneath a sky that's ever falling down, down, down
Ever falling down.

Through the day
As if on an ocean
Waiting here,
Always failing to remember why we came, came, came:
I wonder why we came.

You talk to me
as if from a distance
And I reply
With impressions chosen from another time, time, time,
From another time.

Billy Bragg So many to choose from, here's a personal fave:

You and I are victims of a love
That lost a lot in the translation
When I think of all the time that I spent
Sitting on the end of your bed in anticipation
Of you giving in and us living in sin

A hot day, the smell of hairspray
And the sound of a shower running softly
It's things like this that remind me how I felt
The first time you came back for coffee
The way you took it amazed me

Walking in the park, kissing in the dark
And my head against your pillow
And late at night a lover sings
Adam and Eve are finding out all about love
I say Adam and Eve are finding out all about love

There is no real substitute
For a ball struck squarely and firmly
And you're the kind of girl who wants to
Open up the bottle of pop too early in the journey
Our love went flat, just like that

It doesn't matter the colour of the car
But what goes on beneath the bonnet
Is there a flag that flies above your heart
And is my name writ there upon it
Wedding cake and toothache, equals love and pain

Walking in the park, kissing on the carpet
And your tights around your ankles
And late at night a lover thinks of these things
Adam and Eve are finding out all about love
I say Adam and Eve are finding out all about love
Adam and Eve are finding out all about
Adam and Eve are finding out all about
Teresa and Steve are finding out all about love

And...

It's bad timing and me
We find a lot of things out this way
And there's you
A little black cloud in a dress
The temptation
To take the precious things we have apart
To see how they work
Must be resisted for they never fit together again
If this is rain let it fall on me and drown me
If these are tears let them fall

Must I paint you a picture
About the way that I feel
You know my love for you is strong, girl
You know my love for you is real

It took a short walk and a talk
To change the rules of engagement
While you searched frantically for reverse
And them claiming that virtue never tested is no virtue at all
And so I lost my ignorance
And now the bells across the river chime out your name
I look across to them again

All your friends said come down
It will never fly
And on that imperfect day
We threw it all away
Crisis after crisis, with such intensity
This would never happen if we lived by the sea

Most important decisions in life
Are made between two people in bed
I found that out at my expense
And when I see you
You just turn around and walk away like we never met
Oh, we used to be so brave
I dreamt the world stopped turning as we climbed the hill
I dreamt impossible dreams that we were lovers still

Tim Rogers of You Am I should be world famous, the campaign starts here:

Been watching so much TV
I'm thinner than I should be
I'm like a waterlogged ball
That no-one wants to kick around anymore
An all day morning hair-do
That no comb can get through
It's all granola and beer
A calling card and a silk cut souvenir
I miss you like sleep
And there's nothing romantic about the hours I keep
The morning when it starts
I don't look so good
Now I got a heavy heart

I talk a lot about football
And girls I kissed in Grade 4
I piss off my friends
And digging a hole just staring at the floor
Now every t-shirt's got a wine stain
I'm loving cigarettes again
I know every tune about guys and girls
and hurts and hearts and moans

I miss you like sleep
And there's nothing romantic about the hours I keep
The morning when it starts
I don't look so sharp
Now I got a heavy heart

It's just a low rent paying, palpitating pulp under my shirt
But there's a weight that's sitting
Oh God it hurts
Oh God it hurts

Been watching so much TV
I'm thinner than I should be
I'm like a waterlogged ball
That no-one wants to kick around anymore

I miss you like sleep
And there's nothing romantic about the hours I keep
The morning when it starts
Oh my heavy heart
