Independence Day did have a decent end-of-the-world-by-aliens storyline and the classic Will Smith-Jeff Goldblum pairing though.

It's hard to beat a movie with that.

Independence Day was silly fun, but the most laughable moment came when they were in the spaceship and they were able to use their laptop and connect to the alien's network in order to download the virus.

Fucking yes, I just got back from seeing it and I loved it. It can't beat 1 or 3, nothing can for me, but it kicked the shit out of 2.

The only issue I had was that you could tell this movie was chopped up to be PG-13. I'll buy the "unrated" DVD and probably enjoy it a little bit more.

My thoughts exactly.
I hated seeing all those dumb edits. You could totally tell when someone was saying "fuck" and they changed the sentence around completely.
That, in my opinion, was the ONLY downside to this movie. It was over-the-top just to be over-the-top. I loved it.
