This is late, but hey new thread, have a belated :fuckyeah: from me!

Yep, I'm back. Oh my god, last night's Crowded House show was great. All four shows were great. Over the course of them, Charlotte and I got both our requests played; Recurring Dream for me in Sydney and That's What I Call Love for Charlotte at Brisbane II in exchange for giving Nick Seymour a knee rub. You read that correctly. I'll let her explain that story for herself when she's around.

Hope all you folks have been keeping well.

Haha, our flights managed to avoid getting in the news.

Now I'm having that feeling I get after seeing most bands, about how the studio recordings just don't compare with how good it was to see them live.

I'm so jealous, but happy you got to hear Reccuring Dream. (shame about Vertigo not being played twice.)

I know how you feel. Do we know if the Crowdies are doing the USB thing for Oz?

Haha, I'm just listening to Recurring Dream now for the first time since hearing it live. It was amazing. I'd had my sign out for most of the encore, but Neil was handed the acoustic guitar for Better Be Home Soon and I nearly put the sign away, thinking "well that's the end of the show". Then I decided to call "pretty please?" just one more time and HE ACTUALLY DID IT. He made a comment that he wasn't sure he could play it very well, but it was amazing. I thought he was just going to do the first verse and chorus (which he played solo on the acoustic), but by the time he finished the chorus, he'd got going and the whole band joined in. Almost before I knew it, they did the whole song, including the solo! Neil did pretty well with the solo given he was using totally the wrong guitar for the song.

In Brisbane they seemed really jovial, lots of audience interaction and stuff. I'm hoping there will be USBs of the shows, but who knows, I haven't seen any info either way yet.

Yeah, Ali texted me that they played it..and I was like Damn! I'd half thought about jumping in the car / Plane to come up to the show. Perhaps if I wasn't seeing U2 so much, I'd have done it.

Hope they come back for another tour next year.

I'm craving more gigs! They're playing some shows around New Zealand in February but that's it so far for next year.

It's going to be so weird seeing bands like U2 and Muse now. I've got used to bands that interact with their fans, whether it's chilling with Alpine around the place or the way Crowded House involve their audience in the show or whatever. My enthusiasm to see U2 and Muse is a bit lower now ...

Hmm, yeah. U2 just have a different way they go about the business. The very old school (mostly) same songs every night. I reckon even if the Crowdies went on a tour with the stage the scale of 360, the setlists would still be highly varied.

U2 may well use the excuse that, once they've worked out the lighting, videos, ect its too hard to get off that track, when clearly its quite simple. Who really cares what colour the lights are, or whats been played on the video screen FUCKING JUST PLAY DISCOTHEQUE!!...you know?

Its very simple for someone like the White Stripes, Pearl Jam or I'll say when Tori goes solo to play, you know...whatever the fuck they want. (even when Tori goes out with the band, the setlists are extremely varied)

Muse have no interaction, really, whatsoever.

thankyouverymuchwerecalledmusethanksforcominghereistimeisrunningout

I've never understood lighting, videos, etc. being used as an excuse. The sequences don't segue into each other! The lighting is contained within the length of the song in almost all cases, so it would be a piece of fucking cake to swap their order.

It's funny how some bands seem to view what they do as a business, and choreograph it so that each night is similar, while others keep it as a hobby or pleasure foremost. I think it's readily obvious that a band like Crowded House has a lot more fun on stage than a band like U2.

What was awesome last Friday, was coming out on stage to In My Command. Where as U2 possibly would have thrown in 8 versions of Vertigo.

How awesome would it be for U2 to open with something a little less unheard. Thats why I loved Breathe as an opener....even if it didn't work well. Hey, its not the lead single (heck its not even going to BE a single). Whatever, the early 80's material is far to underplayed. (that was random)

I'm not bashing the band or anything (my signature clearly counteracts my comments if they come across that way) I'm more or less 'Just Saying'

Wedding stuffs?

Haha, I may have stalked you on Youtube last night. It all started with your clip for TUF. (however I loved the Elevation and Window In The Skies ones!)

I think you mean I Feel Possessed. We only got In My Command in Sydney - and it fucking rocked, seguing out of World Where You Live. I've seen Crowded House eight times live and had six different openers: Saturday Sun x2, Mean To Me x2, I Feel Possessed, Locked Out, When You Come, and Private Universe. I love how they're willing to give anything a go and see what works; it doesn't so much matter if your opener tanks as long as a couple of the first four or so songs sets the audience alight.

Sooo fucking tempted to figure out how to see Crowded House in Adelaide on Saturday even though no way do I have the money to do it. Luckily I'm already committed to seeing Alpine here that night!

At least you didn't leave your ticket in Shepp, which is what I first thought you meant!

I was so paranoid I'd accidentally leave a Brissie ticket down here or something!

Charlotte probably got sick of me double/triple/quadruple-checking our luggage.

Oh I'm terrible sometimes with over-checking. But I haven't lost my wallet on the tram yet or whatever, so the system works!

Planning a big music night tonight. Have an assignment that I want to get finished. Gotta get through the rest of Trashley's list

Daniel, you know the one album you really need to listen to is Brokencyde Will Never Die.

Haha, touche.

Really want to find the plugs that the drummer of Alpine has. They're insane, with detachable filters and the works.

Wedding stuffs?

Nah. I have an interview for a "real" job on Friday, but it's not something I'm sure I'm excited to be doing. On the other hand, I have an interview with a radio station in Chicago on Saturday, which I'm interested in, but have no idea what kind of money or hours it will be.

I have no intentions of taking a job for any kind of short term at this point.

the trouble is I need a car if I'm going to take the first job, and dad's being a bit difficult with that, hard to explain.

Mostly, I'm just hoping that in the next two days I hear from some of the other jobs I applied at.

Awww yeah.

Speaking of earplugs, there were some posted in Random Music a while back I wish I could remember the name of. They were insanely ridiculous but there was something really cool about them and I can't remember what it was.

Filters? Holy shit.

Yeah, like one was to lower the treble. I can see why he needs them, so he can get the sound just right while performing; I can't say I'd need something that specialised, but he said it was only about $35, so ...!

Oh Good luck! I'm sure you'll do fine. I take it you would prefer go for grab the Radio Job? even if the pay isn't as good, it may be better to do something you enjoy and are more excited about.

What sort of work would you be doing at the radio station?

We are stressing out about wedding plans a bit. We think we have picked a venue for the reception (which is totally awesome), but not sure we want the ceremony at the same place....nor do we have anywhere else in mind. I'm also yet to pick a best man.

Plus not all of Nicoles family get along....yeah...fun stuff. trying to get both my parents to sit down and help organise stuff is hard too...

Those videos were awesome, literally almost died laughing.

Seconding the good luck wishes on the job front, Ashley!

If you don't mind my asking, how are things going there? I thought your parents had split fairly amicably ...?

Eh, its gotten a lot worse. Even though dad is living back at home, in the spare room. My sister isn't really helping things...with being a bit rebellious....Random parties, heaps of people almost always over on EVERY weekend....we even found a bong floating around the house a few weeks ago.

It pisses me off a lot as my room usually gets invaded as well..people sleep in here when I'm away at the weekends.

otherwise i keep myself out of it!
