Ok, so you have a friend who has been feeling a bit down lately. You'd like to burn them a CD with some uplifting songs to maybe brighten their spirits. What songs would you use? My brain is running on empty right now so I can only think of two songs...

U2 "Stuck in a moment..."
Modest Mouse "Float on"

PS... if you already have a playlist for this purpose, feel free to post it

well "stuck" isnt uplifting..its kind of depressing.

for uplifting songs, i would recommend

1) New Years Day - u2
2) Streets- u2
3) beautiful day-u2
4) everything's not lost - coldplay
5) champagne supernova - oasis
6) song 2 - blur
7) its my life - bon jovi
8) 1st day of my life - rasmus
9) do you realise - flaming lips
10) national anthem - radiohead

Travis - Flowers In The Window & The Humpty Dumpty Love Song - I love these 2, 2 of my favourite songs

REM - At My Most Beautiful
U2 - Ground Beneath Her Feet
Crowded House - Fall At Your Feet

Those are the songs that immediately spring to mind...

I have an uplifting-esque mix and it's something like:

The Rising - Springsteen
Spirit in the Sky - Norman Greenbaum
Closer to Free - Bodeans
When I Look to the Sky - Train (cheesy, I know, but reminds me of the positive things about a good friend who died recently)
Under Pressure - Queen
Now We Are Free Juba's Mix - Hans Zimmer & Lisa Gerrard
Don't Panic - Coldplay
She Will Be Loved - Maroon 5
Faith - George Michael
Times Like These - Foo Fighters

to name a few

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

Acrobatman: I kind of mentioned "Stuck..." mainly because, to me, it's a song that suggests that you're just in a slump right now and to swallow your pride.

LMPA: Good one... used to make me all teary eyed when it came out though heh.

The Sage: I want your username  Good song suggestions

LivLuv: We occasionally play that Train song at my work. It may be a tad cheesy, but it works :)
