Blade Runner: The Final Cut (2-disc)

Got that, too! Can't wait to watch.

I always have selective memory syndrome with Christmas gifts. Aside from the socks, the standouts:

- a truckload of chocolate
- headphones that somehow warm my ears in the Canadian winter with special, advanced technology.
- a really cool adidas baseball hat--one that actually fits my big head.
- books
- an antique ice cream scoop I remember my grandmother using when I was just a kid. I had always admired it...it was more than a scoop to me...it was a spring-load gadget, filled with memories. When my grandmother passed away last year, I thought any knowledge of its whereabouts was lost along with her...but my aunt sent it to me, complete with a story attached about its origins.
- a great watch...one of those ones that monitors everything...including how much chocolate I've consumed.

I bought all the presents for myself this year, usually, my family has no idea what they should buy me for Christmas. This year I got a lot of small stuff from family, friends and my students again, mostly candles, red wine, chocolate and little cosmetic stuff like bath/shower cream and soap. I also got a scarf and gloves, after I lost two pairs of gloves within the last two weeks. What I wanted and got from my father was a 100 euro gift card from my favourite book store, where I can not only buy books, but also software, painting material and other nice things like blank books and so on, so that was totally alright. I gave away a lot of stuff, especially for my little nephew. I made a U2 CD for my brother but I don't know if he'll like it.

We tried to keep things simple this year. I got

-scrapbooking supplies

A dvd with an interview of my dad immediately following his stroke and an interview of him a month ago. I watched it. I cried. That's about the only thing I got that matters spit to me.

It was nice to see that he's actually made progress, 'cause sometimes it sure doesn't feel like it just seeing him day-to-day, but he really, really has. And it's wonderful.

 Well, for Christmas this year I got a MP3 player, gold watch, choc. covered cherries, gel pens, earrings, make-up but the Best gift I have ever been given(I suppose this belongs in Zoo confessions, but it was A Gift!!)was a warm home and a family to spend Christmas with!! I called trying to reach my boyfriend to tell him that the homeless shelter I was in was kicking me out in the street at 5am the next morning(when temps were dropping to 30 degrees, which is Freezing to This Californian transplanted in Florida! BRR)and I had no where else to go! I got his Ex-wife instead, and just broke down crying because I just did not know what else to do! She said, 'Stop crying, pack your stuff and I am coming to get you'! So.....I suppose I should have said 'grab the kleenex!'...but this IS true! Best Christmas I have Ever had!!
So UnforFF...I can totally relate: it's really not all about gifts that one can buy! Is It?  May your Dad get better, even better than today! Hang in there!! :)
Oh, and Happy New Year To All!! Here's to 2008! (Pss..it's My birthday, too!! lol! )
