tattoo advice

i have 2 problems. one is finding a site or somewhere i can see designs. i know what i want done, but as ive never heard of it before, there seems to be nothing around on it. i want a filigree band on my second toe, so i dont even need to search for tattoo sites. anything which uses filigree or knotwork pattern will help like even a jewellry page. but it needs to be small enough for a toe. maybe half a centimetre by 1.5?

secondly, does anyone know of anyone who has had a toe tattoo? and how much in general do these things hurt anyway? how deep does the needle go? how fine can the line be on a foot?
i need technicolour detail.
i am a wuss.
spare me nothing.

please.

A good friend of mine has a tatoo on her toe, as well as a few others. She told me that getting that one hurt more then getting any of the others (she has one on her back, hip and around her ankle). Not very helpful, I know.

I think the toe might hurt/tickle! Could you maybe draw the design you want, or have someone else draw it and take it to the tattoo place? That's what I did with a couple of mine.

i've heard toes hurt the most. also, i've been told by tattoo artists that your skin sheds the quickest on your arms and feet. so tattoos there tend to fade the quickest. but if you want one, go for it!

I have this book (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...370920-3056811) that has lots of Celtic knotwork...maybe you could find something like that and then reduce the desings on a photocopier...some of the designs are pretty small anyway.

This site has some designs: http://www.ceolas.org/clipart.html which you could probably shrink down to small enough.

Hey AH, I am going to get a tattoo soon, I've been wanting one for ages, but soon I am going to get it done. I am thinking of getting mine on the inside of my left arm. So instead of having it on my shoulder it would be on the iniside of my upper arm. I am going to get the stars of the southern cross and in the middle the word 'one' written in the font that was used by U2 on their 'smell the flowers while you can' t-shirt that I got at the Zoomerang gig I went to. The only thing that I am having trouble with is finding nice designs of stars, I want a nice star design and then once I have it I will be off to get it done. Good luck with yours

i sure hope my kids never ask me if they can get a tattoo. it should hurt like hell, the worse the better. get the ugliest but smallest tattoo you can find, put it somewhere the sun don't shine, cause they're like cowbranding, blech.
i think this weird tattoo yourself thing is part of that vertigo scene, so if possible the girls with crimson nails should also have tattoos. they probably will, no?

can you imagine someone intentionally tattooing your name on their body?!
that is some scary shit.
imho, anyway!
you know, i haven't eaten, like all day. this is the worst it's been eating wise.
i haven't really been hungry for food, but now I'm getting this terrible headache and I don't think caffeine will help (though lattees are much better than the cheep coffee, doesn't burn the gut so much. starbucks is taking over the corporaterprofit universe selling us lattes that probably cost them a buck a pop (most!) for 3 bucks a pop. pirates. but it's soo good. as long as they don't try to sell you chai latte...what the fuck is a chai latte? it must be heinous.
I was in a trippy tryanythiing mood the iother day, and took them up on their insidious offer to try pumpkin spice frappucino latte or some such string of words.
it was the most disgustingly wrong drink I've had in a while. but so seasonal!
gotta go figure out what to eat...
i'm getting really really skinny

edit: sorry, I'm forgetting to be thread-relevant, I'm so tanked on coffee and nothing else, foodwise...forget I can even use those cute little emoticons here, but they've never been very comfy for me to use somehow..

does britney have any tatoos yet?! maybe kevin will demand one..
There was a chicky with a self...i eally just mistyled that...
cell phone behind me on line at hte village corncer mags cigs and alcohol shop last night, and she picked up whatever the hell mag has the coldplay guy on it..i forget his name...argggh... i hate that...and they just *loved* the caption, just loved it. Chris whatever, rockstar (or some such term) or just gwyneth's husband. thanks cvery much covercaptioning writers. and he had this earnest ( i think it was supposed to be earnest...didn't look at it carefully, but it seemed 'right' for a mag cover, not stunningly different or anything...so it probably was
earnestly ironic or ironically earnestwhichever) look on, leaning in to the viewer, simply sitting on a stool. yeah, he's just gwenyth's husband is all, worthless role that must be...ooh, how hot for the chickies to watch! i checked to see if there nails were painted but got distracted by their miniskirts and perfume.

did I just do this *again* on the tattoo thread?!

sorry...

One thing to consider with a filigree design is that the ink tends to spread out a bit. I have a celtic knot medallion design on the top of my wrist with an interlaced band around my wrist. The medallion itself is small -- only about 1 inch square (2.5 centimeters) and the band is about 1 centemeter wide. When it was on paper, drawn out with a pen or pencil (I forget which), it was perfect, but when it was actually done the outline was wider than the pen/pencil lines in the drawing. So there is less open space between the lines, and it looks a bit more murky than I would really like. It still looks good, but I wish I had made it 10% or so larger. That would have made it more definate.

So what I would suggest is talking to the tattoo artist and finding out how wide the lines are going to be, especially for a filigree or celtic knot-type pattern.

Good luck!
