Absolutely. I think she's the best modern country artist today. (And the hottest.) When it comes to actually writing songs and adding personality to them...she seems to be a genuinely sweet girl and i don't think the fame has gone to her head yet. I wish her the best of luck with her 2nd album and i pray it'll be good. I think it will be.

Doves - Catch the Sun

Damn, I can't come up with any others right now. I think I only thought of that one because of the Doves thread.

Bob Seger- Night Moves
Bryan Adams- Summer of 69 (duh!)
RHCP- Zephyr Song
A lot of Black Crowes stuff reminds me of summer
U2- Electrical Storm
Tom Cochrane- Life is a Highway
Tom Petty- Free Fallin'
Spoon- The Way We Get By
State Radio- Right Me Up
Bruce Springsteen- Rosalita
Wallflowers- One Headlight
Aerosmith- Janie's Got a Gun
Bon Jovi- Livin' On A Prayer
Corinne Bailey Rae- Put Your Records On

I know the Aeromsith one is weird, but when I was little my mom had this mix tape of all these random songs and we would listen to it on the way to the beach every day So now we associate all those songs with summer.

I should point out that I do have Summer of 69, but it managed to escape the playlist. I'll fix that now.

You know the song "summertime" that goes "it's summertime summertime, sum-sum-summertime"?

One of the guys that co-wrote is deceased, but my cousin. So, yeah.

What's shocking, with all due respect to my own dead relative, is that it took two people to write that song.

Two of my favourite songs to play at this time of the year are "San Tropez" by Pink Floyd and "Summer Teeth" by Wilco. The latter isn't really about summer, but that's okay. It has chirping birds and stuff.

I started working on a summer mix this morning for a July birthday gift so I hunted this thread down to steal ideas. A few things on my mix I don't see here:

Summer Skin - Death Cab
Girls in their Summer Clothes - Springsteen
It's Summertime - Flaming Lips
Gold in the Air of Summer - Kings of Convenience
4th of July - Azure Ray
Indian Summer - Tori Amos
Summer Kisses Winter Tears - Julee Cruise
You Wear the Sun - The Delays
Muzzle of Bees - Wilco
Staring at the Sun - TV on the Radio
Looks Just like the Sun - Broken Social Scene
Yellow Sun - The Raconteurs
Sunday Sun - Beck
Saturday Sun - Nick Drake
Another Sunny Day - Belle & Sebastian
Here Comes the Sun - Beatles

Of course that's just grabbing things based on titles...I haven't delved into lyrical content yet, or just summer-feeling music.

How about the worst summer song on repeat?

New Kids On The block, had a bunch of hits
Chinese food makes me sick.
And I think it's fly when girls stop by for the summer, for the summer
I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch,
I'd take her if I had one wish,
But she's been gone since that summer..
Since that summer
