?Restaurants in Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood FL??

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I grew up in FtLaud/Hollywood, and have to admit, the place is relatively scarce of fun things to do as it is sandwhiched b/t more interesting locales such as West Palm Beach and Miami. If you are willing to drive places, CB Smith Park (a beach) is a good place to take the kids, as are most beaches in the area...

I believe the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino just opened up in Hollywood - so that might be fun for you guys, too, depending upon your time contraints.

If none of these appeal, I'd ask your hotel front desk to recommend more things that might be geared toward your taste and money-spending level.

you absolutely MUST go to the Mai Kai restaurant! i went to ft. lauderdale last year for my friend's wedding and we all went out to eat there. they've got a great polenisian show too!

another MUST if you're up for a bit of an adventure is the Taverna Opa Greek restaurant. it can be a bit noisy and crowded, but the table dancing is tons of fun!

that's me wearing glasses in the middle next to the greek waiter dancing on the table

of course one of my favorite things to do was just get up at dawn and walk along the beach picking up seashells. it was so relaxing just walking along the beach before anyone else was up....and you never know what you'll see getting to the beach before everyone else...i even saw this little sea turtle that had hatched overnight making it's way to the ocean that morning :cute:

be sure to check at the hotel too...they usually have flyers and brochures of things to do in the area...there was a glass bottom boat ride with scuba diving lessons that i wanted to go on but they weren't open on mondays...remember that too, a lot of the touristy things might not be open on mondays since tourism is geered more for the weekends. i was dissapointed that i couldn't go on the glass bottom boat cuz i was leaving the next day :grumpy:

Thanks everyone for all the tips.

We had glorious windy sunny weather. We went to South Beach on Sunday. To my husband's delight, we saw beautiful breasts!! !! It was midday, so I didn't get to collect too many shells.

We had dinner at a hotel-recommended Sushi Blues - very good.

The next day my hubby worked while I vegged and sunned by the pool and watched my Red Sox beat up on the Yanks from the tub in our room. I love Patriots' Day!! More sushi for lunch across from the hotel.

Then we went to Maikai for dinner and the show. ABEL - what an entertaining place. Our host must've had a couple of scorpion bowls before the dinner crowd was seated. I enjoyed the fire flying all over the place and the muscular thighs!! I had seared tuna, but broke the healthy kick with crab rangoon for an appetizer.

Tues - back to South Beach before my afternoon flight home. My husband followed me back on Wed.

It was a great petite break from my everyday life. We even drove around in a crisp white Celica - so Miami!!!

My kids couldn't understand that all of FL is not Disney - "Why didn't you get me Mickey ears!!!!
