 Hey, Laz. (Not Lax, like I originally typed.)

On-topic: Finally got through Raw Power, (or Raw Cooter, as Laz prefers). I didn't care for it much, but I was sort of distracted while I listened to it. Definitely going to give it another go, though.

Jeez, what kind of punk fan are you? That's bread and butter for anyone with balls.

(I guess you don't have to be much of a fan of punk to love that album; I most certainly am not and consider it essential regardless. I'm just legitimately surprised that it wasn't a revelation for you.)

On a completely un-punk note, the instrumental breaks of Aja's title track have to be among the most transcendent moments in all of rock music. Expertly performed, yet strangely otherworldly. Pure motherfuckin' magic.

Yep.

Aja is the perfect example of what rewards studio fastidiousness can reap.

My #4 all-time album, fwiw

Yeah, it's my 4th favorite too. I feel like I knew that.

I wish the 5.1 surround mix weren't an impossibility...the masters for Black Cow and Aja have gone missing. Fagen offered a $600 reward for their return or any information about their whereabouts. Motherfucker's holding out, tbh.

You are going to HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE my DI 9 list then,

who, me?

or if you meant the cobblster (try saying that outloud. those consonants together do not work well. comes out too much like lobster with a c), then i'm probably going to love it.

:hmm:

either way, i am intrigued. oh yes. very intrigued.

but i really want $700.

no for real though, i fucking love aja - the song and the album. though as i'm sure i've said before i grew up listening to a slightly different track listing so my mind was blown when i bought it on cd.

I could pass it along, if you'd like.

Thanks, but I'm tech-savvy enough to have it on my computer in less than a minute when I feel like it.

More of a post-rave, the place they all go to after the rave.

"...and after the show it's the after-party, and after the party it's the hotel lobby."

TOOT TOOT

BEEP BEEP

Hell yes. That drumming is some of the best I've ever heard. Plus, Wayne Shorter.

I don't bother bringing a CD or my iPod on short drives, just running errands or driving to choir or whatever, so I'll flip through the stations until I find something I like (which usually does happen, I promise!).

For a couple of months now, I kept hearing this song on several stations, and I'd quickly change it because I hated it. Then I woke up with it in my head the other morning, and that just pissed me off. So I needed to figure out what the lyrics were so I could Google it and figure out who it is that I'm hating.

It's Animal by Neon Trees.

So. I hate that Neon Trees song.

That's right.

*stabs squirrel wandering by*

*throws plastic bag full of plastic bottles up into a tree*

Yeah, as soon as I saw that was the song, I thought "Oh, that scary looking guy mofo was talking about a few months ago!"

If DeNiro was a whiney pansy boy who writes songs about not liking bullies.

Oops.

See what happens when you're careless with the environment? You end up accidentally maiming your favorite rock stars. :(

Apparently, I didn't learn my lesson when I threw a 6-pack ring into the ocean, and then later Bruce Springsteen got it tangled around his neck and almost died.

Yeah, he just lurched out of the ocean, ripped it off his neck, caught the guitar someone threw to him, shouted "HUN! TWO! THEE! FAW!" and kicked into The Promised Land.

And then I knew I was forgiven.

Well, like I said, I was distracted. I'll have an hour today to just sit & listen, like I did with Sing Loud, Sing Proud from DKMs, so I'll probably have a whole 'nother opinion of it later.

I meant Cobblestone Pie, You'll definitely love it.

I'm going to start trying to come up with the most unpronounceable mutations of Cobbler. Also, I have a Cringer song stuck in my head now.

I was just inside a Dolce & Gabbana store in Beverly Hills (for work) and Stand Up Referee came on the stereo.

I threw up in my mouth a little.

Also, I've been listening to some of Warren Zevon's early albums. Great stuff. And whine the song isn't new to me, I love the internal rhyme in this line from Werewolves of London:

"a little old lady got mutilated late last night..."

"HUN! TWO! THEE! FAW!"

I almost killed Elton John once by throwing a giant pIece of styrofoam off a bridge.

Someone Saved His Life That Night.

So good. I'm so happy that I finally got around to hearing his work over the last few months. Definitely one of my favorite recent musical discoveries. Kickass songwriter.

Headache would have had to have left, because it makes his dick hard.

His words, not mine!

Apparently some never-before-heard long lost Bowie album somehow was leaked? I've seen a couple of articles about it yesterday and today, but haven't actually figured out what the fuck is going on.

Apologies if this was already discussed. I just know there are a bunch of big Bowie fans around here. Thought some might be interested.

I saw a bit about it on Atease. Apparently he made some demos for an album and scrapped most of the sessions, though a few songs ended up on Heathen. It's not a full album in any way, it's just some leaked old tracks from ten years ago. A lot of it is just re-recordings of old B-sides and things.
