Minor Threat- I Don't Wanna Hear It - YouTube

But,
Whatever the reason,
His heart or his shoes,
He stood there on Christmas Eve, hating the Whos,
Staring down from his cave with a sour, Grinchy frown
At the warm lighted windows below in their town.
For he knew every Who down in Who-ville beneath
Was busy now, hanging a mistleoe wreath.

"And they're hanging their stockings!" he snarled with a sneer.
"Tomorrow is Christmas! It's practically here!"
Then he growled, with his grinch fingers nervously drumming,
"I MUST find a way to keep Christmas from coming!"
For, tomorrow, he knew...

...All the Who girls and boys
Would wake up bright and early. They'd rush for their toys!
And then! Oh, the noise! Oh, the noise! Noise! Noise! Noise!
That's one thing he hated! The NOISE! NOISE! NOISE! NOISE!

Then the Whos, young and old, would sit down to a feast.
And they'd feast! And they'd feast!
And they'd FEAST! FEAST! FEAST! FEAST!
They would start on Who-pudding, and rare Who-roast-beast
Which was something the Grinch couldn't stand in the least!

And THEN
They'd do something he liked least of all!
Every Who down in Who-ville, the tall and the small,
Would stand close together, with Christmas bells ringing.
They'd stand hand-in-hand. And the Whos would start singing!

They'd sing! And they'd sing!
AND they'd SING! SING! SING! SING!
And the more the Grinch thought of the Who-Christmas-Sing
The more the Grinch thought, "I must stop this whole thing!
"Why for fifty-three years I've put up with it now!
I MUST stop Christmas from coming!

I wish I liked Eels more than I do. Electro-Shock Blues is so fucking outstanding and he's just never come close since.

Still waiting on that Donald Fagen reaction, El Mel...

It is as follows:

Unlike Morph the Cat, it's a bit of a slow starter. But once it hit Weather In My Head, it hit a great groove from then on. My favorite track on the album is Miss Marlene, which is just a fantastic, well-arranged song all around. There seems to be a more conscious funk influence on the guitar tone these days, more so than jazz. Lots of wah. I like that, but I miss the fuzzy Royal Scam distortion. Obviously, that's dead and buried. Lyrically he seems to be in a similar place to where he was Everything Must Go, as opposed to the less forward-looking Morph the Cat.

I really liked the album, but I definitely need more time with it.

Ok.

one: what the hell are you skipping on Who's Next?

two:  I like By Numbers very very much, as well.

Much, much less than I used to. But... :reject:

perpetually surprised by the amount of Nelly I remember from watching MTV when I was 12

Nelly was a fucking boss in the early 00s. Both Country Grammar and Nellyville are sick records.

Country Grammar, Ride Wit Me, E.I., Batter Up, Hot in Herre, The Gank, Dilemma, Work it, Pimp Juice... he was probably the only hip-hop artist rivalling Eminem as my favourite at that point in time.

More Steve Albini brilliance

FL: Steve, you like to play a Travis Bean guitar, so did Joe Perry of Aerosmith and Keith Richards. Which of those two do you feel spiritually closest to?

Steve: I don’t know. They both kinda seem like assholes. I guess I can stomach more of Aerosmith’s music than I can of the Rolling Stones. I mean, Charlie Watts is a pretty cool drummer with a distinctive style, but other than that I’m baffled why anybody listens to the Rolling Stones. It’s hack bar-band crap. AC/DC kick the shit out of The Rolling Stones.

More Steve Albini brilliance

I didn't think Albini had much credibility to begin with, and maybe he's just being contrarian for the hell of it, but Aerosmith is the shittiest "big" band of all time. Preferring them to anyone is shameful, let alone the Stones.

Fuck that guy. He fucked up In Utero and PJ Harvey's Rid Of Me.

Fuck that guy. He fucked up In Utero and PJ Harvey's Rid Of Me.

Then why are they both excellent?

Nevermind is the album that got fucked up. It sounds terribly dated. Dave Grohl's snare on Scentless Apprentice is the sound of Albini doing his job. I don't care what Kurt thought of it, he thought all of his albums sounded terrible.
