thanks for all the info. Yes am in Canada and I know the levels are calculated differently here. Just thought Id update you and let you know that we decided we would go with our gut instinct and see if keeping regular doses of the pain medication would make any difference, so for 2 days we have been giving him the pain medication and he appears to be a bit better - he still retreats downstairs but this morning when I got up he wsa actually upstairs, and he got up to greet me and he was meowing and he walked me over to his food dish and meowed some more, followed me around. When I left he went downstairs but when my husband got up he actually came upstairs to see him too, which he hasnt done in a few weeks. so maybe the med for pain is doing something.

Drs here are of the same opinion that his levels although elevated are not to be concerned about. They said they really only worry when Urea level is over 20(in Cdn measurement) other than that they say that isnt a real concern.

We decided we would have the surgery to remove the lumps, we just are worried about him not eating and being strong enough. Specialist will admit him day before and give him lots of fluids.

And that's about it, we hope this works.

thanks everyone.

After weekend of responding, Monday and Tuesday were a downslide for kitty and he ran temperature of 103, called dr, and off to emergency clinic he went again. They ran some additional blood tests to make sure his levels havent changed, they took some urine by inserting tube in bladder, and he goes in Tuesday for his scheduled surgery on Wednesday. All are convinced it is the growths that are causing the problem.

We hope kitty makes it home.

Thanks for all the help, suggestions and kind words, and Ill let you know how it all turns out next week fingers crossed for good news.
