I have just seen Rhihanna video. I ask myself, why must she act like a porn-star? I'm so sick of all this body selling "kind of some artist" who shake their asses in your face and make bunch of money with high debatable "music". I mean, what's the need of it? What's the message to a 12-13-14 year young girl? If you don't shake your ass and don't show your breast you are zero? That's the way to make success, enjoy it?
I think it's enough now, show your soul not your nude body.
I don't want to act like a puritan or whatsoever, but I'm bored with this useless business of music based on infinite sex messages, and I'm bored of changing everytime channel when the children of my cousin come to me to watch TV. It's not only Rhianna, there's obviuosly a lot more out there, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera.....................make sex in your beds, dude

i agree , guys will grow up and expect all women to be treated this way and they wonder why rape cases are on the up.

"Or bring me a girl, they're always the best: you put 'em on stage and you have 'em undress. Some angel whore who can learn a guitar lick -- hey, now that's what I call music"

-- "Joe", The Last DJ, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers

I don't see how flashing your body works in terms of generating sales.

I, and many other blokes, immensely enjoy watching the videos of britney, etc, but we've never had an urge to go out and buy the single.

I don't think you can blame music videos for rape though....

the sexual nature of the performances isn't the problem... elvis, mick jagger and jim morrison were very controversial do to their overt on-stage sexuality (which of course was quite tame compared today but i digress)

the problem is that most of the acts you named can't sing. rhianna actually has a very good voice, it's a shame her record company isn't using it properly.

jim morrison was a sex symbol but you don't see him in a bathtub, half naked, with girls who's bits and pieces are almost falling out.........i hate then music today...i get called a freak for that..all i listen to is old stuff...maybe a few new bands but they have to be good!!! The only reason why i don't watch this crap is cause it tells young girls that it is ok to be slutty(i mean i wear a low cut shirt once in a while)and it is ok to pile make-up on your self..maybe im getting off topic but i mean look around, the younger students in my school look older them me!!!

that has to say something!!

I agree... These days, you almost get looked at if you don't dress up and act like those girls in music videos...

When I look at a music channel (which I basically don't do anymore) I just have to zap by quickly because it it just a sore sight for my eyes, and I get pissed off by just watching it.

And yes, these days, people don't really know how to make real music anymore. :| That's why I'm listening to older music or music by older artists, like many people here as well.

^ That's exactly the matter! If you are talented, why don't you try to get a bit more respect on you? She's just 18, it's not the message she should give out. I know it might be not her decision to make nude videos (we know how music industries work......."give me what I want, and no one gets hurt", sings a certain irish singer........) But hasn't she the power to say: "No, I don't make everything you want!" I repeat, this counts not only for Rihanna, but even for all the other who put their bodies before the music

when rappers write songs like LL cool jay's 'control myself', it encourages people like her to act in such a way. sex sells doesnt it?
(and sorry that this isnt really related, but i keep hearing this song on the radio and it bugs me that its actually allowed to be played..one of the lines being 'When I feel like this I can't resist-
Stop it don't make me hurt you'

plus they never play decent stuff.
its all their fault!

Pink said it good on her single stupid girl or something:
"what happened to a woman president
she is dancing next to a 50 cent"

Don't ask me why i know it.

I like that pink song..
im not her biggest fan but im sure its making a point to lots of young female (and male?) fans out there. Good for her, finally someone making an attempt to reveal sexism in the music industry.
