How does it compare to their earlier work?

Just this year I've gotten into Tindersticks, and I'm very slowly working my way through their discography, it's truly great stuff.

they don't have a bad album
and this one gets better every listen too

it's hard to compare their more recent work to the old stuff
the old stuff was a bit "top heavy" or something
which also had its charms

if that makes any sense
