I just got back from it. It's definitly cool.

While the story isnt quite as interesting/good as the last one, the action scenes are easily some of the best I've ever seen in any movie. Totally worthy of pooping your pants over.

To give the story some credit though, it leaves you very interested in what's going to happen, etc. It also is cool because it takes you in a complete different direction then you would think a sequal to the Matrix would take you.

Back to the action scenes though, wow. I need to change my pants after watching them, I lost all control of my bowels.

I give it a

I didn't care for this movie. The action scenes were exhilarating, but the inherent story has me screaming "I don't care!" The majority of the theatre I was in seemed to feel the same way.

Pretty much all of the scenes in Zion could have been done away with.

I also find it funny that no one in the movie pronounces "Zion" correctly.

Exactly. And the scriptwriters have yet to show me or anyone I know for that matter - a reason to care about Zion, and thus, a reason to care about all the action on screen - the action that is supposed to "save" Zion. I dunno. This movie was great if you like eye candy - but not if you need a reason for all of the eye candy.

It's an action movie, what do you expect?

Honestly, the first story wasnt exactly all that ingenius either.

If you go watch an action movie, you have to take it for what it is: Dumb Fun. No more, no less.

That being said, I agree that the story isnt as good as the first one. I still liked it and found it 150% entertaining. I go to movies to be entertained, and Matrix Reloaded did that and more.

I'm more than aware of the purpose an action movie serves.

The paradox with The Matrix series is that it masquerades itself has having a deeper meaning (1st movie being about "free will," the second about saving humanity, and the power of choice). Most "dumb" action movies do not have that, or delve deep into Eastern philosophical roots.

Having a total U2 fan moment right now...

anyone notice in the beginning rolling credits... the green matrix says "U2" sideways to the left screen, before the green matrix turns into a clock?

Anyways... as far as the story goes IMHO, the movie was okay... the original first was better...

HelloAngel, I wanted to tell ya that I wasnt trying to be a jerk to you or anything. I reread my post, and it did sound like I was being one. Sorry about that, I was just blabbering on, etc. I know what you mean, and your opinions on the movie are definitly valid.

EP, that was definitly a cool plot turn.

SoulfulMofo, I didnt notice that, that's cool though.

Everyone: Did you sit all the way through the credits? They show a really brief trailer for Matrix: Revolutions at the end. It was worth sitting through the insanely long credits for.

Awww... I didn't think that at all. :) But thank you for thinking I had anything valid to say - I admit, sci-fi is out of my league.

Hahahaha. Why is it that guys tend to like all this nerdy stuff alot more than the ladies do?

It's a mystery.

Well maybe not a mystery, guys are just into stupider stuff. hehehe.

I noticed that too, and so did my mom (who's also a U2 fan).

I liked both quite a bit, but I felt the first was better because it had more storyline.

The, uh, intimate scenes... :combust:

But, uh, I'm straight and thought that Trinity was hotter than Neo.

I thought it was...well, better than I thought it would be. The story was better in the first one, and although this one had a lot of twists and turns, the first one was still more surprising.

I think they're going to pull out more of the metaphysical bells and whistles in the 3rd movie. I don't think I can say much more without heading into Spoilerville.

I also thought the first one was better. :|

Visually, it is stunning. I was like "Wow, geek porn!"

Of course, I also had a LOUSY moviegoing experience, so maybe I enjoy it more if I saw it again. :uhoh:

The 3rd one looks better.

What did everyone think of the Return of The King Trailer???

Good lord, when you see Aragorn fighting THE battle...wow it's amazing.

Hey, there is nothing wrong with girls liking Star Wars, Matrix and LotR. I do! [btw, Swallow you really saw the new trailer??!?!?!?!]

Liked the movie alot but a little too much action and a little too little explanation. What the hell was that architect dude talking about?

Ok, I made it through The Matrix DVD last night without falling asleep. I liked the last 15 minutes.

Back from watching it. Action scenes =, one of the most entertaining car chase sequences ever, if you can call it that.

I did find myself getting really bored in the beginning. I wasn't involved in the story at all. Things picked up when they left the ugly place with wires.

I sat through eight minutes of nu-metal music (although the RATM song kicked ass) with my mates to watch a two minute trailer. How fun is that?

My suspension of disbelief was frequently called into question, though. I'd elaborate but for spoilers.

Good film, preferred the first, want to see the next. It's the Star Wars of my generation, I expect. In 20 years time they'll have some prequel and 35-year old me will dress up in a black trenchcoat and sunglasses to go to a convention. :p

Are you kidding? Tell me your kidding!

We did not get a ROTK trailer!!!

I don't know if this has been posted but ... make sure you stay after the credits of the Matrix b/c they show the trailer for the 3rd Matrix!

We went and saw it again last night and I caught the U2 moment! :dork:

Some stupid kid pulled the fire alarm during the bathroom scene with Persephone --> 30 minute delay

But yay for 2 free passes for our trouble

I can't say I was really impressed with reloaded. I had forgotten the storyline to the first movie so I watched it again, it's never a good thing to forget what an "epic" movie is about. So I went to see it with my brother who is impressed by pretty much anything fast paced.

The opening scene rolled right passed me. The whole Zion thing made me go "ohhhh k...", I actually thought I was watching "the ten commandments" when Morpheus was giving his speech. The whole crazy orgy scene was... uncomfortable in an exciting way and in a sickening way. I had no idea what that was all about.

I wasn't expecting much out of Keenu Reeves and pretty much got the same dull performance. The fighting scenes were okay, very fast and crazy, I don't think there was a lack of Mr. Smith in this movie. :D

The end of the movie just made me want it to end faster, the old guy in the room with the screens, is there any better way to make a movie boring and drawn out than to have an old man talk at the speed of a turtle? That part of the movie made me angrier than anything else.

But I appreciate the style and story they are trying to create, the movie shows much thought and time was put into it. And Monica Bellucci... ::blush:: I'm straight but ::blush::

I saw it and wasn't impressed. The first fourty minutes are enough to send you to sleep; the scenes in Zion would be at home in a third-rate Star Trek episode. The rave/sex scene was frankly ridiculous (I'm straight but sorry, I'd rather sleep with Trinity) and way too long. The movie livens up considerably starting from the Oracle scene and the freeway chase was first-class as was the truly mind-bending scene with the Architect. Unfortunately to get there I had to sit through some tedious repetitive fights and dodgy CGI shots that made the Smith brawl look like a video game. I'm still looking forward to the Revolutions, though.

I still am blown away by the action scenes in this movie.

Sure, the movie/plot/story itself isn't exacty stellar, but the action scenes are HANDS DOWN some of the best ever put into any movie.

I agree w/ you completely.

It's a very disappointing film compared to it's predecessor, but it has a few great moments and I'll certainly see the finale.
