Although I plan on going to bed reasonably soon, I decided to open a bottle of wine for a slight nightcap. I bought it a couple of months ago, around $15, Jenke Barossa Boxer 2007 Shiraz. I'm a bit disappointed though, it had been untouched and yet the smell protruding is quite foul, I was wondering if that was intentional but there's no description of the taste notes, just some sentimentality towards the wine maker's presumably deceased boxer dog (I will defend this, as the boxer relation may have been why I impulsively bought the wine in the first place). I can't find any reviews or anything, either, all I know is that it's meant to be robust, but the stench seems awfully strange.

Bah, it tasted hopeless, although there were some nice flavours coming through but they were ultimately overpowered. Very disappointing, I'm surprised it offed itself so quickly. Just gone for 2007 Clare Valley riesling instead, although I was really hanging out for a red, but the only red I have left is a lovely tempranillo I want to save for a good occasion.
