cinco de mayo is a celebration of a war victory. it is when "4,000 Mexican soldiers smashed the French and traitor Mexican army of 8,000 at Puebla, Mexico, 100 miles east of Mexico City on the morning of May 5, 1862 (more info found here) ."

En Japon el cinco de mayo es la dia de ninos, no es el siempre de Mexico. (Esta es triste porque nosotros no tenemos el possibilidad para bebir cervecas en el nombre de Puebla, pero los ninos estan muy importante tambien.) Or something...

i didn't know what the holiday was actually for. In all my ignorance, I just figured it was a party holiday, because of all the people that go drinking. In essence , I guess it sort of is a party, since it was a victory.
