I have Maggot Brain by Funkadelic - the title track alone is worth buying it for.

It was a bit of a random buy one day after I heard "Can You Get to That" which is the second song on the album.

I have no other stuff by Parliament or Clinton or Funkadelic so I don't know whether this is the best place to start, but I like this album and would recommend it

I saw them play a few years ago when I was still living in Tallahassee. If you ever have the chance to see them live, don't miss it. They're amazing. P Funk played for probably 45 minutes or an hour before George Clinton even came out. The show went for over three hours straight, and I danced my ass off the whole time.

Mothership Connection is a pretty good place to start.
