My Italian born mother pronounces it 'chow' but with a slight 'i' sound in it kind of like 'chiow'.

But yeah its pretty much pronounced chow.

Same here. My grandparents are Italian and pronounce it with an "i" too. Maybe their accent makes it sound different because they are from the north.

Some italians pronounce it as

TAUU ot TCAUU ( the T thing is halfway and C thing is halfway too)
