Best "ALBUM" of the 70's?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Why are we still playing...? Wasn't The Wild, The Innocent, & The E Street Shuffle already mentioned? This one's done, people.

This isn't a thread for the most over-rated albums of the seventies, though.

GibsonGirl actually gave the correct answer. PF's Animals wins.

I disagree, but at least it's better than shit (ie, Animals), right? I used to love Dark Side of the Moon, and I definitely still enjoy it, but I feel that as time marches on, it feels more and more sterile every day. Is anybody with me on this...? I'm not hating, or anything; I'm just diminishing my praise incrimentally, as time passes.

I'm assuming you're just trying to be funny, because if you knew Springsteen at all, you'd know that his second album usually is not mentioned that much because it is overshadowed by Born To Run and Darkness On The Edge Of Town.

It really is a brilliant album.

"He converteth me to lamb cutlets,
For lo, He hath great power, and great hunger.
When cometh the day we lowly ones,
Through quiet reflection, and great dedication
Master the art of karate,
Lo, we shall rise up,
And then we'll make the bugger's eyes water.

Bleating and babbling I fell on his neck with a scream.
Wave upon wave of demented avengers
March cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream."

 What's not to love about Animals? Animals>DSOTM.

 Great choices. I completely forgot about Innervisions when I made my list. :banghead: I put Live At Leeds down for a second, but I prefer the deluxe, expanded edition that was most certainly not released in 1970. :p

In addition to many of the great records already mentioned, I submit:

:| Wow. I have never heard anyone even slightly criticizing Animals, let alone calling it shit. What exactly don't you like about it, if you don't mind me asking?

Holy shit! Yes! It's a tough competition between that one and Dark Side... IMO.

Nice taste!

For me:
1. Zeppelin IV
2. Dark Side
3. Quadrophenia
4. Wish You Were Here
5. Sticky Fingers

Three of the songs exceed ten minutes! Oh no, progressive rock!

If you're going to pick an Eno album I'd say you HAVE to go with Another Green World. Unparalleled to this day.
