you're supposed to use the POINTY part??

my best friend found a guitar magazine from 1985 with edge on the cover. a couple of nice pictures, nothing no one hasn't seen (because the magazine was so old). cool article that i'd never read. so in the article, edge is talking about using the side of the pick instead of the pointy part, when he plays the guitar.

this is worse than a guitar equivalent to singing wrong lyrics (like the "wait, crud that's not how the song goes" thread), but after reading that part i yelled "you're SUPPOSED to use the POINTY part??!??!?" i've been playing the guitar for nearly 4 years, and suddenly i realise i've been holding the PICK wrong...

i thought that this post should probably belong in the instrument-related part of this board, but everyone will make fun of me there (if my my non-guitarist friends, and my very-non-guitarist family made fun of me...). and this DOEs pertain to the edge! and that's one fifth of what the PLEBA description says...right?

I had never known that! how interesting. I only played a little guitar (don't remember any) but i just strummed an acoustic, no pick! Well you learn sumthing new everyday, huh? You'll be fine, remember edge said that to play like him you should play like yourself. Even if it means holding the pic wrong!

Anyhoo.... I didn't think it mattered how you held the pick. I guess you learn something new everyday.

i don't think it matters, but in 7th grade music class we had this one pick with teeth on the side and it confused me. it was a weird pick...it was green too.

i tried to find a picture of a pick that looked like the green one with the teeth (and pictures of the edge where you can see the pick he's using)

unfortuntely i couldn't find either
