There is more to me than meets the eye; i'm not as uncomplicated as I appear. As the song so perfectly describes it!

I would honestly have to say "Hand In My Pocket" by Alanis M. I'm a very complicated person to understand.

Five for Fighting "Superman (It's not easy)"

I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
I'm just out to find
The better part of me
I'm more than a bird
I'm more than a plane
I'm more than some pretty face
Beside a train and
It's not easy to be me

I wish that I could cry
Fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie
About a home I'll never see

It may sound obsurd, but don't be naive
Even heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed but won't you concede
Even heroes have the right to dream
And it's not easy to be me.

Up, up and away... away from me.
well it's alright... you can all sleep sound tonight
I'm not crazy... or anything.

I can't stand to fly,
I'm not that naive.
Men weren't meant to ride
With clouds between their knees

I'm only a man in a silly red sheet
Digging for kryptonite on this one way street
I'm only a man in a funny red sheet
Searching for special things inside of me.

It's not easy to be me...

Kinda like the search for yourself, your own identity. Feeling kinda lost, at the center of a whirlwind and you're not sure what you have to hold onto...

The only one that comes to mind right away-and I HOPE it would describe me-is 'Mystery Girl'.

I like to try to keep a little 'mystery' about me, because I think you can be too vulnerable if you don't. And maybe too boring and predictable.

DP Gangsta by Snoop Dogg.

Just kidding! I might actually pick Some Days Are Better Than Others by U2. I try to live mindfully, and I try to live each day to the fullest. Still, I recognize that not every day can be a great one. But there is always something redeeming to be found, even on a day that "slips through your fingers and onto the floor."

So I think that song describes me because I try to be someone who can appreciate every day of my life.

I HATE that song. It's a really pretty song and I LOVE it. I don't really hate it.

But it makes me cry all over myself, so that makes me mad. Ggggrrr *fights with song* just bc it reminds of of someone and it's like it's THAT person talking to me.

OK who has an exceptionally long sleeve I can wipe my nose on? Feck.

Well....
U2 song...
I'd have to say "Sweetest Thing" fits me and an ex pretty well. I'm a blue eyed boy, she = brown eyed girl.
Plus, she was the sweetest thing.

As far as a song describing ME...I'd probably say "Outlaw Torn" by Metallica.
The chorus is definatly me.

"And if I close my mind in fear,
Please pry it open.
And if my face becomes sincere,
Beware.
And when I start to come undone,
Stitch me together.
And if you see me strut,
Remind me of what left this outlaw torn..."

The sing that best describes me would have to be "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses". I think the whole song describes me, but the first 2 lines say it best

Youre dangerous cause you're honest
You're dangerous- you don't know what you want

I only realized it when my now ex-boyfriend was explaining why he broke up with me, and he said he couldn't handle my "brutal honesty" with him, and that I was unsure of I what I want in life and from our relationship and the whole part

You stole it cause I needed the cash
And you killed it cause I wanted revenge
Well you lied to me cause I asked you to

Describes me cause I'm wiling to do a lot for people I really care about, and I broke this guy's heart, so when I heard that song again, it felt like it described me perfectly... maybe I should send it to him

A non-U2 song would probably be "Turn Off the Light" (or is it Turn Out the Light?)by Nelly Furtado cause I have this reputation of being difficult and rough, rough, rough, but only those who know me know that I'm not always like that.... I'm a mystery to a lot of people, even myself...

There are a few songs that come close...this is one of them....She's Every Woman by Garth Brooks & Victoria Shaw...(btw it's an excellent song!)
smile.gif

She's sun and rain, she's fire and ice
A little crazy but it's nice
And when she gets mad, you best leave her alone
'Cause she'll rage just like a river
Then she'll beg you to forgive her
She's every woman that I've ever known

She's so New York and then L.A.
And every town along the way
She's every place that I've never been
She's makin love on rainy nights
She's a stroll through Christmas lights
And she's everything I want to do again

It needs no explanation
'Cause it all makes perfect sense
For when it comes down to temptation
She's on both sides of the fence

No it needs no explanation
'Cause it all makes perfect sense
When it comes down to temptation
She's on both sides of the fence

She's anything but typical
She's so unpredictable
Oh but even at her worst it ain't that bad
She's as real as real can be
And she's every fantasy
Lord she's every lover that I've ever had
And she's every lover that I've never had

WildHoney22, I totally agree with you.

But what I've always considered to be my "personal theme song" is "Dancing Queen" by Abba. Which U2 once covered. So it's all good. It's weird that it should be that song, since Abba is not my usual kind of music...my favorites are really U2, Tori Amos, Radiohead, etc. But anyway...that's my song.

"The Girl Least Likely To" by Morrissey

How many times have I been around?
Recycled papers paving the ground
Well, she lives for the written word
And people come second, or possibly third
And there is no style, but I say "Well done"
To the Girl Least Likely To
Oh, deep in my heart, how I wish I was wrong
But deep in my heart, I know I am not
And there's enough gloom in her world, I'm certain
Without my contribution
So I sit, and I smile, and I say "Well done"
To the Girl Least Likely To
Page after page of sniping rage
An English singe or an American tinge
"There's a publisher," she said, "...in the new year"
(It's never in this year)
I do think this, but I can't admit it
To the Girl Least Likely To
So one more song with no technique
One more song which seems all wrong ...
And oh, the news is bad again
See me as I am again
And the scales of justice sway one way
In the rooms of Those Least Likely To
Oh, deep in my heart, how I want to be wrong
But the moods and the styles too frequently change
From 21 to 25, from 25 to 29
And I sit, and I smile, and I say "well done"
To the Girl Least Likely To
Oh, one more song about The Queen
Or standing around the shops with theives
"But someone's got to make it!" she screams
"So why, why can't it be me?"
But she would die if we heard her sing from the heart
Which is hurt
So how many times will I shed a tear ?
And another stage of verse to cheer
When you shine in the public eye, my dear
Please remember these nights
When I sit and support with a dutiful smile
Because there's nothing I can say
So chucking, churning, and turning the knife
On everything (except your own life)
And a clock somewhere strikes midnight
And an explanation - it drains me
If only there could be a way
There is a different mood all over the world
A different tune on familiar views
And dearest, it could all be for you
So will you come down and I'll meet you?
With no more poems, with nothing to hear
Oh darling, it's all for you...
Darling, it's all for you ...

Right now...Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk by Rufus Wainright. I always want the things that are a little bit poisonous. I'd have to say too, that the music itself, lyrics aside of that song are pretty representive of my personality. Strange, changing, restless.
And now to do a stupid ass paper.

That I Would Be Good
Alanis

that I would be good even if I did nothing
that I would be good even if I got the thumbs down
that I would be good if I got and stayed sick
that I would be good even if I gained ten pounds

that I would be fine even if I went bankrupt
that I would be good if I lost my hair and my youth
that I would be great if I was no longer queen
that I would be grand if I was not all knowing

that I would be loved even when I numb myself
that I would be good even when I am overwhelmed
that I would be loved even when I was fuming
that I would be good even if I was clingy

that I would be good even if I lost sanity
that I would be good
whether with or without you

and followed closely by

Your Congratulations
Alanis

I wouldn't have compromised as much
so much of myself for fear of
having you hating me
I would've sung so loudly
it would've cracked myself!
I became self-conscious
of anything exuberant
I wouldn't have sold myself short
I wouldn't have kept my eyes
glued to the ground
if I had've known my invisibility
would not make a difference
I would've run around screaming proudly
at the top of my voice
I wouldn't have said it was in fact luck
i'm talking idealism here
I would not have been so self deprecating
I wouldn't have cowered
for fear of having my eyes scratched out!
I wouldn't have cut my comfort off
I wouldn't have feigned needlessness
I would not have discredited
every one of their compliments
it was your approval I wanted
your congratulations

These lyrics give me chills...it's like she read my mind...

this is a really good question, however I cannot think of a song that describes me best...let me get back to you all with that one...

If it had to be a U2 song, I'd say Walk On because I'd be ready to give it all up to crusade for the things and ideas I love and am truly passionate about.

But if it was a non-U2 song, I'd say it'd be Nico by the Cult. I just relate to this one.

Nico
Hey Nico,
Stay strong in this world,
My girl,
Ignore their cold words.

The song of your heart so true,
The sai is a way for you,
Hey Nico,
Stay strong in this world.

I watched your spirit fly,
Across the velvet sky,
The secrets that you hide.

I'm lost,
Inside your sweet kiss,
Hey Nico,
The life that you missed.

Sometimes you're so strange to me,
A lotus as your heart that bleeds alone.
Hey Nico,
Stay strong in this world.

I watched your spirit fly,
Across the velvet sky,
The secrets that you hide,
The secrets that you hide.

Then you fell,
Then you fell,
Then you fell,
Then you fell,

Straight to hell,
Straight to hell,
Straight to hell,
Straight to hell,
Straight to hell.

The silence of your wings,
The beauty that it brings,
A kiss before we die,
One kiss before we fly.

I watched your sprit fly,
Across the velvet sky,
The secrets that you hide.

OMG thank you so much for agreeing w/ me! Guys are so messed up, my ex said it would have been better if I had lied to him about a lot of things I told him or just not told him anything, but then he would have been mad at me for lying to him.... *rackem frackem* (sorry- I had to use that one Mona) it makes no sense!

Thanks for this inspiration J-Tree. For some reason this statement spoke to me tonight and reminded me that I need to do that too.

As for song that describes me:
1)WGRYWH-definitely for all the reasons described (and AMEN! to that making you sob hysterically but still being a great song stuff!)
2)Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around the World
3)Stuck
4)Acrobat desribes me perfectly...

I won't name anymore, though at some point all U2 songs have been able to describe me perfectly.
