Celebrating Larry

Lawrence Joseph Mullen jr. was born on October 31 1961 in
Harmonstown Dublin Ireland to Lawrence sr and Maureen Mullen..
Larry began to play the piano when he was eight years old but after a year decided to play drums.
His older sister Cecilia bought him his first drumkit in 1973.
By 1974 young Larry had joined the Artane Boys band and soon after the Post office Workers Union Band.
It was at his secondary school Mount Temple Comprehensive that he decided he would like to play in his own pop group.
Encouraged by his father Larry posted a note on the schools bulletin board at Mount Temple asking for musicianswho were intrested in forming a band. Six students responded to the notice
among them Dave Evans, Adam Clayton and the notorious Paul Hewson...

Larry is an extremely important person in music history, for his desire to form a band lead to forming the Greatest Band in the World we know today as U2..

He is resistant to the ravages of time because, like Dorian Gray
he keeps a painting in his attic that ages horribly every year while Mullen preserves his boyish looks....
He calls this hideous image "Bono".

Secondly, never get into a fight with Mullen because he's already got back up. He might not necessarily thump you, but you never know who is arounf the corner...

The great joke is that Adam's and Larry's playing so perfectly reflects their personalities. Larry is right on top of the beat , a bit ahead--as you'd expect from a aman who is so ordered and punctual in his life.
Adam plays a little behind the beat, waiting till the last moment to slip in, which fits Adam's casual, don't-sweat-it personality.
