Of course he could go home and go to bed instead of hanging out in 3 bars per night :reject: But he's a free spirit, he's going to do what he wants.

True. I think he prefers to be a night dweller heheh. And enjoys just talking to his friends at pubs. That's true. I like that restlessness in him though. :)

Having a bar hopping husband, I can tell you a man coming home after a night of drinking is not a pleasant sight (or sound or smell) He staggers in, belching and knocking things over, grouchy over the slightest things, throws up, snores as he sleeps until the late afternoon, then and wakes up sick and with a hangover. It's really not cool. I wonder if Ali ever feels like I do sometimes, even though he's Bono, he's her husband;) Maybe he's a 'happy' drunk;)

Awww - LOL - yeah. Some do. I don't picture Bono being that big of a drunk though. I would think if he was, he'd just be a friendly type.

You know, I can't picture Bono like that either! He just seems too  :)

Hehe! I wasn't fussing at what you were posting or anything. Just thinking aloud :) Yeah, hehe, he just seems more interested in hanging out w/ others. :) At least IMO :)

I really don't see Bono as a guy who chronically goes bar-hopping or whatever, he just likes to be around people. People happen to be in the bars he goes to. I don't think he gets drunk alot, he just jokes about being drunk. He gets too many things done to be really drunk that much. I used to date a drunk and I had to uh, break off the relationship because you're right. U2Kitten, drunks are not pleasant to be around. There's quite a difference between going to a place and having a Guinness or two and getting really drunk. I just think he goes and has a Guinness or whatever and has fun. Why not? He works damn hard, let hiim have fun.

That's basically what I'm saying. :) I think U2 Kitten agreed too. I just can't see him as a drunk. Although the press like to make him out to be one sometimes. I think he's just a funloving happy person, who enjoys socialising with others and hanging out w/ his friends. And that just happens to be the places his friends are. Not saying he never touches the stuff. But I think he drinks because it's something to drink. Not trying to sound naive or anything. Just thinking aloud :)

I don't think it is a rumor. Watching the Today Show, I could tell he was in pain. There was something just not right about the way he was holding himself, and the way he moved.

...And I think that says a lot, because according to Ali, Bono is very "out of touch" with his physical self. He says he's the kind of person who will walk around for weeks with this nagging pain in his shoulder, then someone will look at him in horror and go, "What is that knife doing in your shoulder?!!" and he'd be all, "Well, I'll be damned..." lol.

...Just my $.02. Hope he feels better. ::gently hugs Bono::

It seems to be spreading like a rumor and I hope it is one. Mostly because I don't wanna think of him hurting like that. It could be just exhaustion. I thought I was the only one that noticed that he seemed a little calmer than normal on the Today Show.

Yeah, he's just a really passionate person and thinks of other things before himself. So I could see him doing that.

Yeah, I hope so too! Poor sweetie if it's true. In any case, I worry about him even when he's just tired! I'm sure you can indentify with that.

I don't think it's a rumor. Slipped disks are very painful. Fortunately there's a way to treat it but it's surgery. A friend of mine had this same problem and had to have the surgery, followed by a period of recovery. It's probably a real annoyance for someone who's as active as Bono is to have to stop and have this stuff done. But I'm sure he'll be glad to have it done. Poor guy!!

Yeah. But I can't help but hope it is. Ya know? Don't wanna think of the B-Man in pain. But if it is his back, I hope he feels better soon. Yeah :( AWW

I know, when you care about someone it's hell to think of them being in all sorts of pain. But this sort of thing happens to alot of people. I've had an infected root canal. Ouch! That thing was hellishly painful. Fortunately antibiotics cleared it up but it was awful. I've also had torn ligaments in my ankle. No fun! Crud happens to people. Ugh!

Yeah!!! for Bono!

And yeah, he does have a sexy neck!! How do I join? heheh ;) :der: :p

oh jeez, that is not good news!

i haven't read all the posts here, did he get back surgery??

i know that Wavy Gravy in the 1970's got back surgery, and it took a long time to recover, about 6 months of lying flat on your stomach, while the spine heals!

these days, i wouldn't trust the doctors to know how to properly rehabilitate that! Maybe he should get a second opinion, or opt for chiropractic medicine, because surgery is really scary!!

what's the current news on his condition? Can he walk or sit in a wheel chair? this will mean the end of any tour notions, that is for sure :(.

Poor Bono, just relax now, and don't go around talking about how painful a stiff back is, that is just kvetching!! we all get hurt as we get older, so you don't have to explain that you can't WORK for a while, okay? I am very concerned about the hospitals in New York, or wherever you are to get some relief from this malady...aren't human beings frail things? Broken bones, torn muscles, the whole nine yards, i guess you'll have to "grin and bear" a slight discomfort for the rest of your life, if you don't take it EASY, you hear me????

okay, now let's think of brighter things, like watching March Madness on TV, and hoping that the Cal Bears win!! Yes, we do have a chance, so GO BEARS!! (Penn probably didn't make the cutoff, but did LaSalle or Villanova, i don't know)....

Love you Bono, hope your bandmates are helping out in your time of being flat on your back :)

I am not an expert on back injuries, but I do know that there are different kinds of back injuries. Surgery has changed alot since the 1970's! They can do alot of things now that they'd never heard of then. I have a friend who had a disc problem in his back and he had to get surgery. It took awhile for him to recover; he had to take antibiotics and we had sick jokes about that's why he didn't catch my flu bug in October. He's a pretty active guy and he wasn't used to this. But everything was OK in the end. I'm sure Bono will be OK but he has to get treated. I hate it that this had to happen but crud happens and he's human. :scream: :scream:

Bono's Back Clashes with Engagements...

Well it seems that Bono's back trouble, that was reported on ShowBiz Ireland first, it still giving him jipp - the U2 frontman has dropped out of more engagements because of treatment.

We told you a while back that Bono had dropped out of Neil Jordan's The Good Thief movie Premiere due to a slipped disc - it now seems that the ailment has made the singer cancel a number of his public engagements.

Bono was due to attend a ceremony in New York to induct UK punk band The Clash in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but had to pull out of the gig as he is receiving treatment on his back problem.

However, it is reported that U2 guitarist The Edge will attend the ceremony in Bono's place.

It's rumored that he's going to.

Bono was just at the Meteor awards on the 3rd or 4th I think. I think from what I hear that he's able to walk, it just has periods of acting up to where he has to lay down.

Poor Bono, just relax now,

Yeah that boy gets busy!

Lets hope Bono feels better soon if it's his back.

I got a note from a fan in Israel about this stuff. Apparently Bono has a prolapsed disc, which is incredibly painful. This is treated with surgery in the U.S. and apparently also in Israel, and thus most likely in other countries as well. This is a shame. I hope the problem is resolved soon. What crummy news.

Yeah, now the news is that he's getting "treatment" for his back. I think prolapsed is a fancy word for "slipped." And that even sounds painful. But before he seemed to be walking around, it just has periods of acting up sounds like. :( But my Dad had a bigger surgery than that on his back, and he was walking around within a week. And my Dad can't stand to sit still, just like Bono heheh ;) So lets hope he feels better soon!

I used to work in a hospital organizing the damn charts! Doctors have a nasty habit of using fancy words for everything. It's all written up in your medical terminology textbook. :yikes: :yikes:

Yeah, which their terminology makes everyone worry instead of saying it in plain simple English. LOL :eyebrow:

Not to mention torturing innocent students with medical terminology classes.
Geez, this has alot to do with Bono's back problem, right?

LOL, yeah I can imagine. I guess in a way it does hehe. They're using those fancy terms for his back and making everyone worry more by making it sound like he's in worse pain than "slip discs" usually bring.

Yeah, because "prolapsed" is a typically cryptic medical term. "Slipped" isn't academic enough for the docs. But it makes more sense.
No offense to any docs who may be reading this, I'm sure you're cool. It's my medical terminology class in school that was such a pain in the :censored:.
