hey everyone. just registered to post.
congrats to everyone who got tickets.
sorry for whoever didnt. this whole thing is a fiasco.

here's an idea.

U2 needs to work with ticketmaster, the promoters, and the venues and require that all tickets MUST be picked up at will call on the night of the show. the tickets must be picked up by the person who purchased them using a photo ID AND the credit card used to purchase them. NO tickets sold at physical outlets when on sale begins.

the person who purchased the tickets MUST have their entire party attending the concert with them at the time of pickup AND they must go immediately into the building.

The maximum quantity of tickets purchased MUST be reduced to 4.

this might mean opening doors a little early and staffing a few extra people at ticket windows....but i for one would be more than happy to sit in the arena drinking a few beers for 3 hours before U2 hits the stage than deal with seeing tickets for sale for 800-1800.00 on ebay and from brokers.

most arenas have 5-10 ticket windows. they would put people whose last names begin with A-F at ticket window one, G-K at window 2 and so on and so on.

this HAS been done before. I saw prince in 1997 and it was done this way to discourage and DENY all brokers and scalpers. it went flawlessly according to my own personal experience.

now...since ticketmaster, venues, and promoters have a conspiracy with corporations and brokers pre-arranged to get tickets, that system, at least for U2 because of the demand, would have to be revoked. NO ONE (except for what the band requests personally) is given advanced tickets.

I think U2 have enough cred and clout in the industry that anyone (promoters, venues) would meet their demands.

it may seem nearly impossible to get 20,000 people into an arena in a span of 2-3 hours, however, human nature just works itself out and not everyone would show up at the same time to get in...it would be a smooth flow of going to box office, picking up tickets, and going into the arena.

if your ID doesnt match the ID of what the box office has and the tickets that were purchased...then ya dont get in.

that way i think MORE fans would get the opportunity to get tickets the right way, legitamately, at the official price, not some rediculous inflated cost that quite frankly is making the brokers rich and the fans poor.

brokers and scalpers be gone.

drastic times call for drastic measures.

anyways, thanks for listening.
i thought this venue might be a good place to bring this up and maybe spread the word. it's too late for the first 2 legs...but maybe for the 3rd leg, if they stay in arenas and dont go to stadiums, this could work.

peace

yes, that's a good idea....however, does u2 even want to solve this problem with ticketmaster/scalpers/presales, etc?

remains to be seen.

Good idea. I won tickets to the Stones concert a few years ago and they did it much like you suggested. I had to present my ID to the ticket window outside Staples which was servicing A-D, or whatever and they gave me my tickets and off we went. They didn't escort me in to the concert but it still worked well and it wasn't the nightmare I thought it would be.

Incidentally, everyone had to do this, so it wasn't just "a few winners", it was almost the entire population as it was a sort of an "awareness" concert.

right.
point taken.

however if the people who buy tickets from brokers are not allowed into the venue because they were not the original buyers, and arenas end up being "sold out" yet the building is half empty, i think people are going to start noticing that something is wrong!.

it's way complicated...but if you could no longer just walk up to a building and buy tickets, and they had to be purchased on the phone or at ticketmaster.com, i mean if that was the only way, i think the problem would be reduced.

it's probably a problem that will never be solved, the government is too busy fighting wars to interfere, and they already shut pearl jam down years ago for trying to take a stance against something as simple as "convenience fees"....

anyways......

it has to be disgusting to them also the amounts of money THEIR and OUR tickets are going for, and there is no lack of bidders and buyers. I almost bought some, but just on principle I can't do it, its just wrong to give those people so much extra money for their greed and theft, because that's what it is, they are thieves.

The third leg ticket sales better run a whole lot smoother than the first 2 legs. Sure, some of us got tickets, but after beinig stressed out and robbed outta lots of money.

ALL TICKETS NEED TO BE OFFERED TO FAN CLUB MEMBERS THROUGH A MAIL ORDER SYSTEM, LIKE PROPAGANDA, WELL AHEAD OF THE TOUR. WE CHOOSE THREE SHOWS AND ARE GUARANTEED TICKETS TO ONE SHOW. I ASK NOTHING MORE OF U2. KEYCHAINS WILL NOT SUFFICE, TO SAY THE LEAST!!!

Evidence of the scalping A-holes......yesterday at this time there were 68 San Jose listings on Ebay....right now, after the public sales to Show #1 and #2....there are 400 listings....bastards...

When every fan would only visit 2 shows we would not even need scalpers to obtain tickets. i need a ticket for Dallas in the third leg,..viva scalpers.
