Reference/Confirmation code

Is there anything you can do with your confirmation/reference code you get given when you have successfully ordered tickets that will help you check up on your tickets ie. check if they have been posted out yet etc.?

not sure.........I'm scared of the post office and things getting lost in the mail, so I just get the tickets online (e-mailed to yourself, and it's a lot cheaper)......not all venues have that option though.
