325,000 tickets sold in 2 hrs

Seems to be that Demand for U2 shows is better than ever! 325,000 UK tickets all sold within 2 hours this morning! seems people will pay what ever to see U2!

UK Tour Sells Out Immediately: Bad Sign for this weekend for North America?

Not sure if everyone has seen this yet.. posted on news and also on NME.com

<<<< U2's UK tour has been completely sold out, after tickets went on sale at 9am this morning.

All 260,000 tickets were snapped up for stadium shows in Manchester, London, Twickenham, Glasgow and Cardiff.

The Vertigo tour kicks off in San Diego on 28 March and continues with over 50 shows throughout North America and Europe.

The band will play Croke Park on the 24 June and tickets will go on sale on 04 February.>>>>

just curious to everyone's thoughts on this, not a good sign for tomorrow.. I think it's going to be bloody for the US dates.

I'm curious to how many UK u2.com members that got shafted were able to actually get GA? Hearing no problems of technical issues yet, but the demand seems to be out of control.

good luck to us all.

Indeed they will! My girlfriend got two tickets from a scalper last OCTOBER!!! She was totally unaware of all this and when she gave them to me, I told her she had been robbed, she paid £195.00 per ticket, that for reserved seating "guaranteed" to be in the front third if the stadium. Saying that, I she had not bought them I wouldnt be going, Ive spent all morning on the Ticket master site to try and get some tickets for my mates and I tell you what, you had has much chance of platting fog, more chance of nailing piss to a ceiling! And they have sold out. A band can get too big really, so big that the fans can start to feel distant to their idols as you basically have to chop your balls off, or as Homer Simpson would say "sell one of your livers" to go and see them!

I managed to get Cardiff GA - I logged on at exatcly 10am on Tuesday and went straight through without any problems.

I now just want one very good seat at any of the Twickenham shows (couldnt get any today though)

I had all the problems like everyone else to begin with, but I was lucky enough to score 4 GA's for Hampden the next day (Wednesday). I really thought I was screwed and look how lucky I ended up being!

All I can tell you is keep trying until you're told they are sold out, and even then...KEEP trying, 'cause that's not always the case. At least a few times today I saw people posting that UK venues had sold out, only to be told 10 minutes later that someone else just got off the phone with a ticket!

 Good luck to you and all you fans in the US......

now let battle commence!!!!

Been thinking the same thing. The signs are there. 100,000 prop/U2.com subscritions ~ veteren fans freaking b/c unable to get good seats in presale (indication of passion) ~ Huge album sales

They've had monster tours before - but this could eclipse even those. I sometimes think they coud keep touring this time around, around the world for years and years the shows would never stop selling out.

I hope they do. :)

David

There could be a very positive outcome to this quick sell-out. Yes, you may not have a ticket now.......but they may now add more shows this year or...........

....plan an even larger european excursion next year.

Don't count that out. Stay positive.

Thanks, McGuinness. You said that u2.com members would have a shot at these additional dates through another pre-sale.

And you lied... yet again.

Right now Paul McGuinness ought to be scratching his head and wondering why they are doing so few shows in the UK & Europe. The speed of the London sell-outs was astounding, I'm sure this will be repeated on every show on the tour.

I blame the Ipod commercial. Even my boss saw it (she doesn't own a U2 record and hasn't bought a new record of any kind in probably 10 years) and asked me if I would get her a ticket and could she go with me. :|

lol.

You "blame" the ipod spot? Take your boss! This ain't a cult band.

Jeyzus.

Bloody ticketmaster I couldnt get online or through the phone for 2hrs this morning, and then they were sold out!

I got four GA for Cardiff in the pre-sale but I REALLY WANT GA tickets for Twickenham so if anyone has any spare top sell please let me know, or trade for some GA cardiff ones...

I was kidding about blaming the ipod spot. I don't blame anyone. And there's no way in hell I'm taking my boss and if you knew her you'd understand why. I have to either get on an airplane or drive 6 hours to see U2 and she will NOT be going with me!! May not be a cult band but it's my party with my friends and the boss can get her own damn tickets and friends and go! So there.

UK people - check out lastminute.com. They've still got some tickets - I just bought two GA for Twickenham on the 19th.

Some of you people are shameful. They sold out 325,000 tickets which tells all of you people who bitch and complain about every dam thing that you should stay home. U are not U2 fans. U are never happy with anything. Next you will want for the band to come to your house and escort you to the concert. If I were U2, I would not do a presale. Put up all thickets at one time and so be it.

Well, YES I DO. And it PISSES ME OFF that they won't do it.

Thanks a lot for posting that info - I let 2 VERY desperate friends know and they're off to try for Hampden.

Irony is that my own ticket cost me £95.25, taking u2.com membership, processing fees and the ticket itself into account.

£54.75 will get the same GA at Hampden from lastminute.com - haha!!

Ah well, them's the breaks - need to take it in my stride now 'cause at least I'm going!

You mean the band escort ISN'T included in the price after all??? Perhaps I could persuade them to do a spot of ironing instead?

With that many to do, they'll have to start pretty soon.

*phone rings*

Hmm, appears Larry is coming round to wash my car next Tuesday, better go for a drive...
