Democratic presidential candidates Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton,
Christopher Dodd, John Edwards, Mike Gravel, Dennis Kucinich, Barack
Obama and Bill Richardson will participate in a live, televised
forum this Thursday, June 28th at Howard University. We are trying
to get tickets, but they are very limited so keep reading for how
you can make an impact with ONE Vote '08.
ONE's membership is working to end extreme poverty and the HIV/AIDS
pandemic. We know our next president must support these goals as
well, so let's give these presidential candidates a message when
they arrive at Howard University this Thursday, June 28th. Each ONE
volunteer will get one sign that says one of the following
words, "What will you do to end extreme poverty and AIDS?" The
candidates will read the signs much like a billboard as he or she
drives past the volunteers.
Because we won't know the route that each candidate will take, we
need to set up in 2 different spots with this message, so we need
about 20 volunteers from 7 pm to 8:30 pm this Thursday, June 28th.
Each volunteer will get a ONE T-shirt.
To reserve your spot in this exciting demonstration of support,
contact Ranna and let her know your cell phone number and what size
t-shirt you need (S, M, L, XL).
We'll be meeting on the corner of Georgia Ave NW and Howard Place
NW. I'll be in a ONE T-shirt holding lots of signs. Due to street
closures and security, I suggest taking the metro (Green line) or
taking a cab.
Metro Directions: Exit the Shaw-Howard U. Metro station from the 7th
Street/Georgia Avenue entrance, turn right/north and proceed
approximately six blocks until you reach Howard Place NW.
Thank you!
Ranna
PS – A similar forum with the Republican candidates will occur in
September at Morgan State University in Baltimore. To read more on
the presidential forums, please see:
