U2 Contribution to Stop Pollution

U2 has joined the Bay Area's Spare the Air campaign.

No, you won't see Bono riding the Pittsburg/Bay Point line, but you will hear part of his band's Grammy Award-winning song, "It's a Beautiful Day," in radio and TV spots asking you to cut polluting activities on smoggy days.

Clean air officials decided that the lines, "It's a beautiful day. Don't let it get away," fit their message that personal choices can help air quality.

So they contacted the band's agents, and the socially conscious Irish group agreed to a deal for song rights during the smog season

"Their cost was very reasonable," said Luna Salaver, of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. "They practically gave it away."

I'm not calling them hypocritical, but taking 4 separate SUV's to the arena isn't helping.
