UK Top 200 (week ending Dec. 24)

lw - tw - album - artist - label/catalog - wks on chart
186 - 200 - HOW TO DISMANTLE AN ATOMIC BOMB - U2 - ISLAND - CIDU214 - 46

Surprised it's dropped 14 spots. Really thought Bomb was going up a few spots this week. At least it's stayed on though.

Aniway, this is the third week in line in top 200 during Christmas time and that's good!

In the Netherlands the album slips 4 spots to #88. It's full chart run is How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (27-11-2004):
1-1-2-3-4-4-5-6-7-8
6-1-1-3-6-4-8-10-11-14
17-17-24-28-23-30-32-38-34-28
16-14-9-5-4-6-8-11-14-20
21-27-34-48-34-49-63-60-72-82
77-93-91-80-84-88

All Because Of You also drops off the singles chart (Mega Top 50) after 12 weeks. It's chart run is (24-9-2005):
47-33-33-12-7-10-14-27-29-30
31-50-out

BTW, although its peak position (#7) was lower than any of the other singles from How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (which all went to #2), this one had the longest chart run (Vertigo managed only 11 weeks, Sometimes... 8 weeks and City Of Blinding Lights 10 weeks).

:)

Just looked at this weeks Musicweek & i think Bomb would have sold a little less than last week in the UK - so about 2,300.
Overall artist album sales increased by 17.1% though.

Total est. UK sales of Bomb now = 1,203,000

Good news in Australia
How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb re-enters the top 100 at #67, obviously due to massive interest in their upcoming tour.
Given that it was so close to christmas this equates to about 2,500 copies, if not a little more. Let's see how it goes next week for the Christmas week.

Amazon.com Charts: Bomb #52

Very good to see the bomb that high. I hope that it is still in the BB200, maybe Soldatti will give us the result today. If it stays there, there's a good chance that it won't leave the BB200 in the next two or three weeks.

Great result from Downunder. Makes you realise Bomb's weekly sales must currently be back up to, what, 30K per week worldwide. I mean it's doing 15-20K in UK, US & Australia alone.

@ChargedVT, is this therefore now the full correct Oz chart run for Bomb (so far) :

*1-3-3-5-2-7-7-7-10-13-18-19-20-22-27-31-33-26-33-35-40-40-46-52-54-61-55-65-69-62-67-67-65-73*-89-x (out of top 100)-97-x-x-x-82-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-67

*weeks 1 - 34 are definitly correct

Great results from Amazon.com also. Not so good at Amazon UK though... i think it'll be back off the UK top 200 next week...

Yes Edge3 you seem spot on there except i think there were four weeks out of the chart between 97 and 82.
In regards to worldwide weekly sales, lets look at last week (week 55)

USA - 11.7k, UK 2.5k+, FRA 1.4k, AUS (out of 100 but prob 1.2k)

These four markets have taken up 55% of total sales of the album so far so this translates to about 30k sold last week.

Italy: HTDAAB is out of the top 100 for the third week and ABOY slips out of top 50.

Chart runs:
HTDAAB:
1-1-4-5-5-5-3-3-4-8-
6-10-9-8-8-9-15-14-21-17-
16-17-17-26-33-33-44-42-41-39-
41-33-29-17-10-10-18-22-14-22-
21-37-41-47-61-97-63-92-89-77-
86-x-x-x-x-

ABOY:
2-5-8-16-21-29-32-x-

Soundscan numbers are up across the board this week (saw this on another artist's forum) so U2 will (hopefully) benefit - hope Soldati has the figures soon...

I don't have the album figures yet, but here is an article from the front page of BB that appeared in this week's magazine:

December 24, 2005
U2'S VERTIGO TOUR: DIZZYING SUCCESS

BY RAY WADDELL

The magnitude of U2's Vertigo tour is undeniable from the rankings on Billboard's year-end Top 25 Boxscores chart.

U2 accounts for 11 of the year's top 25 concerts. Next in line is the Eagles, who are responsible for five.

The year-end Boxscores chart reflects information reported to Billboard for the period from Nov. 17, 2004, through Nov. 15, 2005.

Tops among U2's mega-concerts was a June 24-27 stand at Dublin's Croke Park, which grossed more than $21.1 million and attracted 246,743 passionate Dubliners to three sellouts.

"Playing to over a quarter of a million people in our hometown was quite a kick," says Paul McGuinness, U2's manager. "Croke Park is the finest stadium in the world for a big rock'n'roll show, if you can fill it, and we did it three times."

U2 is responsible for four of the top five concerts this year, including $13.7 million in grosses at London's Twickenham Stadium, $13 million at the Amsterdam Arena and $11.8 million at the Stade De France in Paris.

Many of U2's 11 entries are from European stadiums, but multiple dates at North American arenas are also evident. Among them are five of the band's eight concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York ($9.6 million), four sellouts at Air Canada Centre in Toronto ($7.6 million) and four sellouts at the United Center in Chicago ($7.5 million).

The only non-U2 date among the top five Boxscores is the Bonnaroo Music Festival. The massive event grossed $13.4 million and drew 76,049 people to rural Manchester, Tenn. In just four years, Bonnaroo has become the top-grossing festival in the world.

"I believe our team and the internal festival organization jelled at a new level" in 2005, festival co-producer Ashley Capps says. "And many fans told us that for them it was the best Bonnaroo yet. Plus, it's great to be in the company of U2, isn't it?"

Conspicuously absent from the Top 25 Boxscore recap are the Rolling Stones, whose Bigger Bang tour sold out theaters, arenas and stadiums heading into the fall. Stones tour producer Michael Cohl always report his numbers to Billboard when a tour concludes, as A Bigger Bang will next fall. The Stones will likely top the touring charts in 2006 behind what will likely be a record-setting tour.

According to that, EVERY show on the tour was a sell-out! Has that ever happened before, for any artist, on ALL legs of their tour to completely sell out???
