Attendance at all PopMart shows

I started this thread because there seems to be quite a bit of disagreement on this board on how well (or how bad) U2 did on the PopMart tour in different parts of the world. So does anyone have a link to some reliable figures?

Thanks STING2! Do you know of any site where the capacity of some of these stadiums and arenas are listed?

No. Many concerts in USA didn't sellout. In fact, the only soldout in Boston (1&2), Chicago(1&2), Philly, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Oakland (1).

In Europe, the worst market was Germany with 0/5 soldouts!

However, worldwide, PM was a great success with almos 4 million tickets sold

Its important to remember though what a Stadium seats for a football game is often very different for a concert.

All of the above shows were in Stadiums with the exception of the Australian show in Perth. Remember that the site that Vox gives will probably show the capacity for a football game which is often much higher than it would be for a concert.\

On average the true capacity of most of the stadiums is around is around 50,000 for a concert in North America with seats on the field. In Europe that always has general admission on the field which lets you put more people on the field, the average capacity is a little over 60,000 for a concert.

Often the band or artist playing the stadium will set capacity(number of tickets sold) a bit below what the true capacity is for a rock concert.

For example, take Mile High Stadium in Denver Colorodo. U2 played to 28,500 people on POPMART. The Stadium can actually fit up to 55,000 people for a concert, but for this show capacity was set at 45,000.

I was at that show, and I was shocked by how many empty seats there were.

U2 played to 62,000 people at that stadium in 1992 on ZOO TV.

But, the Rolling Stones on their Bridges To Babylon toured played this very same stadium a few months after U2 did on POPMART and were only able to get an attendance of 27,000 back in 1997.

Why didn't the press elaborate on that? They never do, it seems, as long as it's Stones

The U2 fans in Edmonton(x2), Toronto(x2) and Winnepeg may disagree regarding sellouts.

As for the initial list, all I can say is: "Do I smell bleach?"

What do you mean by saying "Do I smell bleach"?

Edmonton, Toronto, Winnepeg and Montreal were all sellouts, but their in Canada not the USA. The only Canadian date on POPMART that did not sellout was Vancouver.
