according to the latest numbers, how many copies has HTDAAB sold worldwide?

The album has sold just over 9 million copies to retailers, and around 8.5 million copies of that total has been sold to actual consumers. When speaking of total global sales of the album, the over 9 million copies figure is used, because as far as the band is concerned, an album sold to a retailer and is an album sold that the band will receive royalties from. Also, retailers only order a certain amount of albums that they are confident they can sell.

@Sting2:

Do you think, that we will see the 10million mark this year?

Its certainly possible, but I don't think it will happen. I think the figure at the end of the year or early January will probably be about 9.5 million(shipped). Currently the album is at about 8.5 million sold to consumers, 9 million copies shipped. Sales will slow down and the margin between copies shipped and sold to consumers will narrow further as retailers will not feel the need to order more albums. Once the album is certified for 4 million in Europe, that will put it at the 9.5 million mark. I think this will happen in either January or February of 2006.

The album is doing very well in Europe which is keeping it on the Global chart, but once the tour leaves Europe, things are really going to slow down there, unless there is a sudden hit single. The chances for things to really pick up in the United States and Canada are small for the rest of the year. The tour could give a small boost, by typically it usually helps to keep sales steady rather than make big increases. Once again, a hit single is needed, and given what happen to the past 3 singles, its unlikely. The awards shows will definitely help, but the Grammy's and American Music Awards are not until early 2006. It will be interesting to see if the MTV Video Awards have any effect at the end of August though.

It will be interesting to see how the bands tour will effect sales in Australia, South America, New Zealand and Japan if the band does indeed go to these places in 2006. BOMB is currently certified for 125,000 in sales in Brazil compared to the 400,000 copies that ATYCLB did there back in 2001, so boost in Brazil could definitely help overall sales of BOMB.

A strong tour of these markets in Southern Hemisphere plus a good night at the Grammy's in the USA should put BOMB over the 10 million mark by the Summer or Fall of 2006 at a minimum.
