But in all seriousness, yes perhaps my words were rash and not thought out very well as I tend to not watch what I say sometimes. No, basketball is not a non-contact sport. But it's still limited in it's contact in my opinion.

But then again, you're talking much about off the ball, which I rarely ever watch offensively.

Just because I dont enjoy watching off the ball doesn't mean I don't know what's going on.

No, it pretty much does.

To be fair, Headache, the kid is watching a team that has four players doing nothing off the ball. Give him a break.

That's like saying that you don't pay attention to, know about nor care about 80% of the game, and then saying that that doesn't mean you don't know the game.

You enjoy it... that's great. I enjoy playoff and olympic hockey. I don't assume to know shit about it other than the absolute basics. I'm getting into soccer, trying to learn the rules and all, but don't pretend to think I know what the hell is going on all over the field.

Yeah, it's sort of like saying you never watch the blocking and route running in football.

Seriously... I don't pretend to know football or baseball as much as someone who devotes their entire life to those sports, but as a fan I certainly try to pick up on the various nuances of each sport.

There are actually many similarities between defensive football concepts and defensive basketball concepts.

I've learned enough basketball from playing it on a regular basis. I'm not an expert, but I know what goes on away from the ball.

There's also many similarities between hockey and basketball defensive concepts. And obviously many differences as well.

Are you 6'3" and 250 pounds? I am. Most of my contact happens when I'm away from the ball. Then...when I get the ball, even more significant contact happens as I back into the guy and he pushes me back...when I shoot, I almost always get hit somewhere on my body.

I set screens for my teammates more than anything...which means a lot of guys run in to me.

I box out for every rebound...my favorite is when I block out 2 guys, because a teammate doesn't get his. That is fun.

Pretty much, i'm that annoying undersized post player who bugs the shit out of people but helps a team win.

I know a lot of guys though who do not play this way. That would be less contact, I would assume.

undersized post players unite

Now if you excuse me I have to go put some bacitracin on the cuts on my arm I got from today's round of low contact calisthenics.
