Where, pray tell, might someone find such a thing, if they were to, say, have a dying, urgent need to hear these?

The mp3 exchange at Backstreets, of course.

Here's the direct link to studio outtakes. Go nuts. I recommend Darkness, River, and Nebraska outtakes.

Hell, I recommend them all. Some fascinating stuff still out there, enough for a Tracks 2 someday.

Thanks! Obviously, I haven't explored that site fully yet. It's pretty overwhelming, how much stuff is on there.

Perhaps I'll pay that a visit tomorrow as a reward for finishing report cards.

Really? Oh .... : looks over at progress, halfway through downloading all of them :

Oh well. I just kind of want them just because they're there, partially. I'm very curious to hear some of them, but I'd be surprised if I ever got around to listening to all of them. There is a LOT of stuff on that site.

when it comes to live bootlegs it's really overwhelming
is there some type of list online which has some sort of "best of" guide?

I haven't explored the site enough yet to see if there's a list somewhere of the shows considered the "Best." But if you browse through the bootlegs, you'll see comments about how some shows are on some sort of "best" list. I'm sure there's a full listing of what's on that list somewhere.

This site isn't up-to-date anymore (I think its last update was in 2005 or so), but it has some suggestions, choosing the best Brucelegs from the 1970s until the 2000s (2003): TheBoots.Net - The Bruce Springsteen Web Connection - The Top 55 Shows

I think that's the list the other site references - it keeps mentioning "one of the top 55" or something like that.

Thanks!
