If we're being very precise about what goes in and what doesn't, I would have to say that Madonnaa doesn't deserve a place in the rock hall either. What did she ever do for rock n' roll?

Fact is, the Rock N' Roll HOF became the General Music HOF a while ago.

Pretty much all of this is what my problem is

Wanda Jackson? Wow.

She's country to me, should she be allowed in?
I think it's a generic "Rock and Roll" being used.
In fact, the term was always meant to encompass the new 'pop' music of the mid 50's, so I don't see it as strict as some of you guys.

My biggest problem is best expressed by the election of Little Anthony.
These older artists with (quite honestly) thin short resumes, are put in over bands with decades of influence and success.

Putting Little Anthony and the Imperials in the RnR HOF is about like in 10 years putting Boyz II Men in there, only Boyz II Men had bigger songs and more success.

If Grandmaster got in, Run DMC belongs in.
Jeff Beck belongs in and certainly Metallica does.
Also, Chic is a pretty good choice.
If you put them in, then ABBA and Donna Summer deserve to go in.

Precedent really doesn't mean anything though.
TOTALLY subjective with no real guidelines at all.

I mean, the Baseball HOF is subjective but there are 'certain' parameters and precedent is used as a guideline.

This is random politicking by assholes like Jann Wenner.

Interesting list of performers who should be inducted available here. I'd like to add Tina Turner and Stevie Nicks as solo artists and Carole King as a performer to that list.
