yeah, the prices are ridiculous. i don't really wanna do ga but i want to see her, so i guess i have to do ga. whether or not i line up beforehand depends on if i go with my friend who's apparently way more into her than i realised (or i guess is one of those people who must always be front row if they can) or if i go with someone else. otherwise i'll just show up and try for that middle ground where i'm with fans, but not little monsters.

i was like second or third row for scissor sisters and i imagine the crowd to be kinda the same, just bigger obvs. i got shoved around a lot and there were of course people trying to push their way in front of me (that happens whenever you're towards the front of any show, i realise this) but god they were bitchy. i seriously had this guy behind me sticking his hand in my face half the show waving his baseball (yes) hat around...trying to get jake shears to put his sweat (yes) on his hat. i imagine it'll be just as bitchy, because despite gaga trying to preach about tolerance and anti-bullying, twitter and really any online media has shown me her little monsters are, well, they live up to their name. so i'd rather just not even go there because i just don't even want to be in the fucking third row. i'd get great pics but it's not worth the hassle or the risk of someone maybe pushing me and my camera getting smashed.

but i don't want to be in the back where people only know half the words to poker face and bad romance, either. i've half-assed it like that where i just turn up whenever and being in that crowd can suck out the fun just as easily when you're into the song, but everyone else around you doesn't recognise anything that isn't some ginormous radio hit and suddenly you get really self conscious (or at least i do) and don't want to jump up and down and sing along anymore. thanks to being around a bunch of debbie downers like that i've sat during shows i wish i hadn't, or even worse, stood there wishing i had the guts to sing when no one else was.

Gaga is playing my hometown tonight and tomorrow (unfortunately 2 hours away from here). Would have been fun seeing her, they are dubbing the concerts here as 'Gagaween'

I was reading that during her show in Mexico City last Saturday, she got sick midway through the show and had to cut it short. After an abrupt goodnight, she went back onstage 20 minutes after the stadium lights turned on and performed a toned-down version of 'Marry The Night' in a sleeping robe, before being escorted to a hospital in an ambulance.

I was trying to get a press pass to cover the Tacoma show on Monday night (I work with a site who covers Seattle-area music stuff), and we were still waiting for any sort of response from the PR firm. I was starting to kind of hope it wouldn't come through, because I've been so busy and wouldn't mind one less thing to do.

But now I have to travel for work anyway, so wouldn't be able to go even if I wanted to. Oh well.

Is her next album a double? Thought I read that.

Was hoping she'd do a lot more of "You and I" Queen/Elton John style songs, double album would help.

The only thing solid I think she's said about the new album, other than the title 'Artpop', is that it will be released with an interactive app. She has hinted about song titles and release dates but I don't think anything has been confirmed about the number of songs.

i bought my ticket what seems like ages ago. can't believe the show's still two months away. but on the plus side it's my spring break so my semester will be halfway done then. can't wait.

They've altered the rules for the monster pit if you can go early, they are opening the line at 8am and wristbanding people at 9am, then go back later to rejoin the queue. If you can do it then I can't recommend it enough, don't bother trying to get to the front and stand in the middle of the pit - stacks of room, no shoving and an amazing spot to see the show from

My bones hurt from all the shows but I don't feel the pain cuz I'm a pro I sink in then I'm ok cuz my body belongs to you when I'm on stage

I read that she's doing an album with Tony Bennett. I'd probably buy that-when she sings with him I think it shows her true talents. He thinks she can sing, and I think he should know.

Bummer. Lady Gaga has had to cancel the remainder of her tour.

From her website:

Born This Way Ball Tour Cancellation
Thursday, 12 February 2013 - For immediate release. Live Nation Global Touring has confirmed that the remainder of the Lady Gaga Born This Way Ball performances have been cancelled. After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip caused by strenuous repetitive movements in her performances. She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover. This unfortunately, will force her to cancel the tour, so she can heal. Refunds for the cancelled performances will be available at point of purchase starting Feb 14, 2013.

Get well soon Lady Gaga.

Wow. Was not expecting her to cancel the tour. Surprised she didn't postpone it to a much later date, her injury sounds very serious. Get well soon GaGa.

yeah, i guess she figured by the time she'd be able to rebook, she could probably be nearly done with her next album or something. of course i hope she gets better soon, but i'm also wondering if i'll ever see her live.

Here's some new Gaga for ya:

Thanks for the link. I feel ambivalent on first listen, but I'm sure it's a grower.

I can't get over her Little Monsters, or whatever her super-fans are called. There's a guy on FB who's like "I've been in tears since the first listen." I just don't get that.

Definitely not in love on first listen. The chorus is pretty busy. It's hard to make out exactly what she's saying. Still nice to hear her voice on a new track.

Lady Ga Ga seems to be one of the more original pop queens out there. What I like about her like Madonna is the desire for sensationalism and creating a strong visual motif backed by a hookey dance track or swooning ballad.

Although really not my kind of music, I saw Ga Ga on the Born This Way tour and was impressed with her stage presence and ability to work a crowd.

Madonna is still and always will be "The Queen Of Pop"....she is a legend in music history to which every female starlet emulates in many ways.
