26 Songs, 26 artists, one goal: Solidarity with students!

Maybe some of you have heard of the ongoing protests at universities in Europe and all over the world. The student movement that originated in Vienna, Austria at the Academy of Arts even spread to Berkeley lately.

On December 18th, the AG Uni Soundtrack released a Double album locally: the Uni Brennt Compilation.

All bands played live at the universities and participated in the CD without wanting additional licensing fees.

26 bands, 26 songs, one goal: Solidarity with the students who fight for better education!

The CD will only be available directly at the universities for a whooping EUR 6 - about US$10, and for about EUR 10 at local indie record stores Bounce and Rave Up. There will be no other commercial exploitation.

The label confirmed all income goes directly back into financing the student´s protests and helping homeless people who came to the occupied universities because there is free food served by the students to everyone who passes by. Just at Christmas time: it´s cold outside and the homeless people have nowhere else to go. Solidarity.

We have been working on this project for the last two months.

Update: The Auditorium Maximum in Vienna, where the Release was presented, was cleared by police in the morning hours of December 21st, sending 80 homeless who lived with the students onto the street, on one of the coldest days of the year. Since then, the occupying students have regrouped at the C1, another big lecture hall, and NGOs have announced they will try to help the homeless (the ones they can find).
