The Fly
I quietly wept
I quietly left
I heard your breathing in my own last breath.
A shout from a rooftop
A yell from the streets
A hope and a history that won't make peace.
As I careen into the August skies
As I hold my arms out I heard your cries
You are there for me, you will catch me.
I fall
I trip
I stumble most every day
Hold me
Want me
I need you in that way.
If I jump...
If I scream...
If I stand here anymore...
Please be with me
Please be near me
Please watch me as I land on the floor.
Will they scatter?
Will they run?
Will you dismiss me again?
Or can I trust you,
Can I believe you,
Can I know you again?
I land softly
I fall into the light
I wait here quietly all through the night.
I quietly left
I heard your breathing in my own last breath.
A shout from a rooftop
A yell from the streets
A hope and a history that won't make peace.
As I careen into the August skies
As I hold my arms out I heard your cries
You are there for me, you will catch me.
I fall
I trip
I stumble most every day
Hold me
Want me
I need you in that way.
If I jump...
If I scream...
If I stand here anymore...
Please be with me
Please be near me
Please watch me as I land on the floor.
Will they scatter?
Will they run?
Will you dismiss me again?
Or can I trust you,
Can I believe you,
Can I know you again?
I land softly
I fall into the light
I wait here quietly all through the night.
