Rock n' Roll Doggie
Just a 10-minute poem here...
?One more drink? he says
We talk of family, food, hiking trips
Every sentence becomes interesting
Our glasses are drained
There?s nothing left but to proceed to the subway
?I?ll take the next train? he says
We sit; I?m tense each time a train rumbles by
One arrives and we giggle as the doors close and leave
?It was too crowded? is his excuse
People rush past us, but we are so still
Every nuance and line is committed to memory
We don?t reminisce or philosophize
Mundane subjects gloss our silent conversation
He laughs?and there is sweetness in the laughter of all the stars*
The train is here.
We act like we?ll see each other again tomorrow, next Tuesday, next week
Fixing my eyes on something else
Just as long as I don?t see the doors close
Just keep walking? just?
*The Little Prince, Chapter XXVII
