The deer sleeps in the thicket
the bird dreams in its heaven
and I dream in my chains
far from the castles of light

The chains may break
but no one will know it
not the deer, twitching for flight
even while asleep
not the bird, dreaming of rest
even while in flight
not I, in my mortal weight
held to earth
by an insufficiency of flight

whoa, reminds me of another poem I wrote. cool!

you know what? that title played with my mind. Initially, I thought it was a love poem about being safe and, well, "held". After reading this, I know it's not that at all! It has a more sinister meaning.
