Lingering between faith and doubt
I have not confessed in a long while.

I just want to say, I have been so concerned with poverty in Africa and other 3rd world countries, that I have neglected the poor in my own town.

But, this year, I am making efforts to help those in my own town to overcome poverty by helping them with repairs on their heating equipment on a volunteer basis.

I am also lobbying my local legislature to have a watchdog group oversee the rasing of any natural gas prices.

Anybody at anytime can become homeless....I think we need to watch out for one another in our own communties as well as we watch our world wide neighbors.

Thanks for letting me preach a bit here. :)

I've been saying this to people for a long time...yes there are millions of poor in Africa, but let's not let that overshadow those in our own backyard who also do not have a roof over their heads or food to eat.

The "Think Globally. Act Locally" concept.

Makes sense.

I am glad I am not the only one who has felt this way.....hopefully I can make a real difference this year to those who really need help.....gives me hope for a new year, and a better day.
