In another thread, people were congratulating themselves at the thought that the left was above this sort of triumphalism.

Evidently not.

Hollywood Reporter is claiming that some people want to offer her talk shows

Huffington Post

From Newsweek's Special Election Project comes the real Sarah Palin. She met staff members in a towel:

At the GOP convention in St. Paul, Palin was completely unfazed by the boys' club fraternity she had just joined. One night, Steve Schmidt and Mark Salter went to her hotel room to brief her. After a minute, Palin sailed into the room wearing nothing but a towel, with another on her wet hair. She told them to chat with her laconic husband, Todd. "I'll be just a minute," she said.

She raised William Ayers before the campaign signed off on it:

Palin launched her attack on Obama's association with William Ayers, the former Weather Underground bomber, before the campaign had finalized a plan to raise the issue. McCain's advisers were working on a strategy that they hoped to unveil the following week, but McCain had not signed off on it, and top adviser Mark Salter was resisting.

And she spent far more on clothes than was reported:

NEWSWEEK has also learned that Palin's shopping spree at high-end department stores was more extensive than previously reported. While publicly supporting Palin, McCain's top advisers privately fumed at what they regarded as her outrageous profligacy. One senior aide said that Nicolle Wallace had told Palin to buy three suits for the convention and hire a stylist. But instead, the vice presidential nominee began buying for herself and her family--clothes and accessories from top stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. According to two knowledgeable sources, a vast majority of the clothes were bought by a wealthy donor, who was shocked when he got the bill. Palin also used low-level staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards. The McCain campaign found out last week when the aides sought reimbursement. One aide estimated that she spent "tens of thousands" more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband. Some articles of clothing have apparently been lost. An angry aide characterized the shopping spree as "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast," and said the truth will eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books.

Finally, Steve Schmidt (who reportedly picked Palin as VP) would not let her speak on election night.

McCain himself rarely spoke to Palin during the campaign, and aides kept him in the dark about the details of her spending on clothes because they were sure he would be offended. Palin asked to speak along with McCain at his Arizona concession speech Tuesday night, but campaign strategist Steve Schmidt vetoed the request.

Palin comes across as a bit flighty with stories like that, but I seem to remember a certain $500 haircut story back from the early 90's involving a certain newly elected President.

right, and it was the Republicans who freaked out, and a Republican who called John Edwards a "faggot," not least because of his hair.

and then Palin goes and spends at least $150K on clothes?

I'm not a Palin fan any more, I was for about (aboot!) a day before I discovered she was an idiot.

Speaking of Clenis and his fondness for high living, what about that Marc Rich pardoning thing? Bit odd, that was.

I wonder who Bush will pardon. Himself, perhaps.

My beef is that she went on a coast to coast looting spree at Neiman Marcus and then she stands there in a towel. It's :censored: ponderous.

Maybe it was a $ 200 towel

Honest to God, I knew this woman was genuinely stupid from the first moment I heard her speak and I spent most of the last 2 months astounded at how some people insisted that she wasn't or tried to cover it up in niceties.

I think she's one of the stupidest people I have ever heard speak in public in the political context. Shockingly stupid, and like other shockingly stupid people, she celebrated her stupidity as if it were a virtue.

Looking forward to the other 'behind the scenes' stories we are being promised....

Our society will reward this woman handsomely, whether it be talk shows, personal appearances, whatever; no one need feel need sorry for her.

What does her future hold ? No one knows for sure, but it will include stupidity, ignorance, nastiness, bigotry, wealth.

I don't know. Some geniuses in the booth behind me at dinner tonight thought she was going to run for president in 2012 because she was so "popular."

But I live in Orange County. She actually was popular here in genius-land.

Preparing for interviews, journalists said Palin did not know how many countries are part of NAFTA. Also, she thought Africa was a country, not a continent. South Africa, consequently, is part of the country of Africa. And the bizarre thing about it: those news weren´t reported on some weird leftist channel, but on Fox..:doh:

There was a report that Palin wanted to speak to the country in concession HERSELF after McCain gave his concession speech. The gall.

As Olbermann put it, 'lose your own damn presidential election!'
